TAR Edit

I had made the article, under Tar, but then it redirected to TAR or something so I made a new one... it was really confusing lol Preceding unsigned comment added by King Alias (talk • contribs)

The avatar Edit

I'm pretty sure this was just due to ignorance, which is why I'm not posting a vandalism report, but User:The avatar incorrectly classified The Democratic Order as a sanctioned alliance. I have undone his edits. --Bobogoobo (talk • contribs) 21:44, January 11, 2010 (UTC)

Edit: He also made an edit to the List of sanctioned alliances to the same effect, which Pika fixed.

On a different subject, I just noticed that the nation infobox now contains only one line of the nation's team color. I liked it when there were more lines, so I was wondering why it was changed. --Bobogoobo (talk • contribs) 22:00, January 11, 2010 (UTC)

Re: My comments Edit

Ah, thanks. The lines must not be displaying for me because I have to use my crappy school computers. I can't wait to get my laptop back :P

I talked to Baltus, he thought that TDO was sanctioned because they're displayed in the alliance score comparison in-game, which I assume must display the top 14 or 15 alliances, because TDO is displayed last on it. I can't check this right now because I'm at school though.

Thanks for the help :) --Bobogoobo (talk • contribs) 00:07, January 12, 2010 (UTC)

World Task Force edits Edit

(This is not meant to be an advertisement) OK ... that is acceptable ... although that was not the purpose. I have done page layouts professionally in the real world. Changing my line breaks and copy is unacceptable. --P M (talk • contribs) 10:43, January 13, 2010 (UTC)

I agreed with you beforehand on the advertisement nature of the redirect. (see above) I can not, however, seem to find anything dealing with line breaks, bold type, spacing or paragraph structure on your cute little rule page. Perhaps you would care to enlighten me. --P M (talk • contribs) 10:43, January 13, 2010 (UTC)

RE: Something interesting Edit

I don't mean to be rude, but, I don't see how it relates to Disparu, since the quote is rather vague even when read in context. Would you mind explaining it to me? — Pikachurin

RE: Copyrighted images Edit

I've noticed we don't have a template like this on the Wiki:

So I'm not sure what I'd do if, say, I wanted a picture like this on my Wiki. Any thoughts?

ORW->Order of Knights of Othin's Eye Edit

Sorry about the trouble- I missed the message you left on my talk page when I was still editing. I also have a question maybe you could point me in the right direction about. Many of the images I uploaded are still registering as being in the CN wiki, but all their URLs resolve to a 404 error. I'm not sure if you're the one to ask about this or what I should do to get the files showing up again. It's only happening to files I have uploaded since December 25. Thanks for any help you can give Sigurd Odinnson (talk • contribs) 21:17, January 13, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction ^_^ Sigurd Odinnson (talk • contribs) 21:21, January 13, 2010 (UTC)
I will definitely remove the revision disclaimers, but am unsure how to establish a "hatnote", is there a help-page you can send me to for that? Thanks! Sigurd Odinnson (talk • contribs) 21:49, January 13, 2010 (UTC)
I see what you mean; the article looks a lot cleaner now. Thanks again for all your help! Sigurd Odinnson (talk • contribs) 21:54, January 13, 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the recommendation, but it looks like the Order infobox deals specifically with decorative Orders (i.e. awards rather than organisations), whereas the ORW is meant to be a religious and military Order like the Medieval Knights Hospitaller or Knights Templar rather than, for example, the Order of the British Empire. I appreciate your recommendation, though; thanks again! Sigurd Odinnson (talk • contribs) 03:32, January 16, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks much! I was having a hard time with the political party template, getting everything to work right. I'm glad I studied History and not Computer Science in college; I've read all the wiki guides and I still struggle with it. :P Sigurd Odinnson (talk • contribs) 03:40, January 16, 2010 (UTC)

TCoC Edit

I created that wiki, I've been trying to post a problem report but it won't let me, this is the only other way I can contact you I imagine, apart from email. I am trying to clear off that wiki and I am trying to get a fresh start on it. Otherwise I would not have attempted it four times... Preceding unsigned comment added by John A MacDonald (talk • contribs)

Minor grammar question Edit

On the page for the Aqua Regime, there seems to be a dispute between me and the creator of the page about whether the number of the day of the month should be capitalized when it is written out. "January tenth, 2010" is the phrase in question. --Bobogoobo (talk • contribs) 17:32, January 16, 2010 (UTC)

Restoration Request Edit

Hi MvP,

Can you restore the following files?

Thanks! — Pikachurin

It's okay. Hopefully Wikia's staff will be able to resolve this problem as soon as they can. — Pikachurin

Avalanche 2.0 Edit

Hi I just saved Avalanche 2.0 and a minute or so later it was deleted. I don't understand why?

NpO - \m/ war edits Edit

I have the logs readily available, and I watched the entire conversation. I'm not making unproductive or biased edits, I'm putting in verifiable statements of fact. The ignorance of the masses of CN players as to what happened is not a reason to put false statements in the wiki or to leave out true ones. I doubt even Grub would deny any of my edits, as there are plenty of witnesses like me. Preceding unsigned comment added by Acetone of Kair (talk • contribs)

Using References Edit

I have two questions about citing sources in articles. Since my nation is based off of an actual duchy, I used information from another source in two articles and my questions are as follows:

  • Is it alright to use an outside source to provide information for any article?
  • Is there a set format I must follow when citing these sources (i.e. MLA, APA)?

Please let me know if there is anything I need to change in regards to this. Thank you for your help, Michael!

Sockpuppets Edit

This user might be another one of Cluver's sockpuppets, since he also uses the same template Cluver used to use (albeit with different information in it), and he also uses gibberish words for filenames. Just thought I should let you know. — Pikachurin

Discussion Sig Edit

Ch33kY's message Edit

Hi Michael von Preußen, I have removed the warning note from my user page. There was no 'blatant' vadalisation to the NpO-\m/ War page. I was simply removing superflous FOK DoW which had been added twice. Cheers - Ch33kY Preceding unsigned comment added by Ch33kY (talk • contribs)

Second Unjust War Edit

Due it's designation as a global war, I've adjusted the infobox colour to bring it in line with the other global wars. -- Imperial Emperor - Talk

White Team History Edit

You undid everything of the white team history page that I did last night. Nobody has bothered to update that page in Gawd knows how long. I'd like to know why you reverted it back to an incorrect and uninformative form.

Problems with {{Nation infobox}} Edit

Hi MvP,

A recent update to {{Nation infobox}} involving image_map and mapsize seems to be causing the infobox to break if something is entered in image_map, but nothing is entered in mapsize. See this page for an example.

I'm not sure how to fix this since I don't understand the code used for image_map and mapsize, so can you help me fix this?  Pikachurin   Talk • Contribs   17:56, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

Thanks!  Pikachurin   Talk • Contribs   18:04, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

Another Sockpuppet of Cluver Edit

This user is most likely another sockpuppet of Cluver, Aca94, et cetera. Judging from his user name, though, he probably doesn't know why his previous accounts were banned.  Pikachurin   Talk • Contribs   15:44, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

I found another user creating the same article about Antarctica. I'm pretty sure it's him again.  Pikachurin   Talk • Contribs   14:19, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

Outside Links Edit

Is there a way to remove the box with the arrow coming out of it (like this) that is added after links to other sites? They don't look very good when they're in the middle of a sentence or something so if there is a way to remove them that would be cool.

Also, thanks for fixing my email on my userpage, I have the Linkification add-on which automatically made it a link thingy. --Bobogoobo (talk • contribs) 00:45, February 2, 2010 (UTC)

Categories Edit

So I was looking at the Robertography page because it was linked to by a recent change, and I started expanding all the categories. Yeah I guess I was bored :P So I noticed a bunch of conflicts or things that are in several categories unnecessarily, and I'll try to fix a few of those now and later, when I have time (and then look at more categories. OCD FTW :P). One problem I noticed was that Category:Freedomtopia and Category:Democratic Republic of England form an infinite loop. I'm not sure how to fix that, because I usually end up doing the same thing when I attempt to make a category page :P --Bobogoobo (talk • contribs) 03:42, February 2, 2010 (UTC)

My Userpage Edit

(Pika, feel free to chime in :P) I know my userpage doesn't look very good, I guess I'll keep improving it as I learn more wiki stuff. There are two things I want to put on it but don't know how to do: my current time in GMT-5, and I want to format my created pages better, so I was thinking I could try putting them in multiple columns. Is there a way to do that? Also let me know if there are any other cool templates or pages I could look at :P --Bobogoobo (talk • contribs) 01:56, February 4, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks :) Is there a special page that lists users by number of contributions? I couldn't find one but I'm out of time for now :( --Bobogoobo (talk • contribs) 02:35, February 4, 2010 (UTC)

Vanivere Coat of Arms Edit

Signature Edit

I'm attempting to make myself a slightly modified signature. How do I put my current time into it (I hate UTC :P)? {{/time}} isn't working, unless I have to put some code thingy around it? ~ Bobogoobo [Talk | Nation] 22:31, February 7, 2010 (UTC)

Okay, so how do you and Dynasty1, for example, put in custom times? Do you have to type them in manually? ~ Bobogoobo [Talk | Nation] 22:44, February 7, 2010 (UTC)

Bobogoobo (and Quick Edits) Edit

Hey Michael, I appreciate all the work yourself and that of your Admin Team does for the CN Wiki. What I do find a little disturbing is the user Bobogoobo. He does a great job in assisting you in your work. But it should be noted that editing and updating Wikis isn't a game, nor a "race" to see who can edit the most or the fastest when they're bored.

Time needs to be given to the native Wiki entry creator or subject to edit the page themselves, rather than refreshing the 'Latest Activity' Page to see what he/she can edit next.

This is by no means a knock against Bobogoobo, as his work and contributions have been great...but what I said above needs to also be taken into consideration as well, if anything than the very least a matter of formal/Professional courtesy.

Thanks for your time. :)

Olympics Template Edit

What do you think of the template I made? I was thinking participating nations could add it on to their pages, and that it could be one of the templates the bottom of the olympic page(s).

Dynasty   Talk • Grand Besaid   01:05, February 9, 2010 (UTC)

Flags Edit

Hey. If i was to make flag articles (articles for alliances flags), would you suggest I do them here (ie Flag of Alliance) or on a create a new wiki (something like and link to the main alliance articles here? Kingcjc 16:46, February 9, 2010 (UTC)

I had an idea. Maybe something like Flags of Aqua Alliances or something similar for all the ones like the TGE you shown me that cant really fill out an article? Kingcjc 16:44, February 10, 2010 (UTC)

Table of Contents Edit

Is there a way to modify {{TOC right}} to make the TOC always be right aligned and directly below the nation infobox, regardless of the template's position within the text of the article? It's a bother to have to reposition it whenever the sections at the beginning of the article are expanded, and to have to find it in the middle of text when I want to move it. ~ Bobogoobo [Talk | Nation] 01:00, February 10, 2010 (UTC)

Well for now, the TOC is just annoying :P Is there a way to have it collapsed by default? ~ Bobogoobo [Talk | Nation] 03:03, February 13, 2010 (UTC)

Two minor changes Edit

  1. I moved Akrotri to Akrotiri because the page title was a typo, but I didn't mean for it to create a redirect at Akrotri. Can you delete that?
  2. In the nation infobox, linking the name of the currency to Currency is redundant because the name for the field also links to Currency. Removing that second link would also give it the same appearance as the government and religion fields, which are similar. I don't want to screw up such an important template so I will let you make the change :P

Thanks. ~ Bobogoobo [Talk | Nation] 01:47, February 10, 2010 (UTC)

I meant that the link in the currency name should be completely removed, not changed to the name of the currency. ~ Bobogoobo [Talk | Nation] 01:54, February 10, 2010 (UTC)

Page for deletion Edit

Draco Altair 90 and Draco Altair are almost the same page, one of them should be deleted. ~ Bobogoobo [Talk | Nation] 23:16, February 10, 2010 (UTC)

I have a better idea. :P  Locke   Talk • Alestor    23:19, February 10, 2010 (UTC)
Category:Infobox templates should be deleted, it contained two pages which I recategorized to Category:Infoboxes. Is there somewhere I should be putting these instead of spamming your talk page? ~ Bobogoobo [Talk | Nation] 23:51, February 13, 2010 (UTC)
Using the delete template seems to mess up redirects, so I will say this here. I think Category:Member of \b\ should be deleted, because it doesn't really serve a purpose. Also, I couldn't figure out why Category:Member of /b/ is in Category:Member of /b//b. I have a major headache after doing this all day :P ~ Bobogoobo [Talk | Nation] 04:25, February 14, 2010 (UTC)
I can't delete it anyway, but okay. Sorry, it looked like a useless page. ~ Bobogoobo [Talk | Nation] 06:16, February 14, 2010 (UTC)

Gov't Positions and Multiple Terms Edit

Hey Michael, what is the proper format/way to state a multi-term position for an AA's government?

For example, User A lead for X amount of Years, left, then returned to lead for Y amount of Years.

What's the proper format/way to code that?

Thanks in advance. Nova Blue (talk • contribs) 21:22, February 11, 2010 (UTC)

Widgets Edit

I have a few questions about the widgets on this wiki.

  1. Is there a way to remove the Latest Activity widget from my sidebar? I find it much less useful than the Recent Changes widget and it takes up more space.
  2. I think the Tips widget could be useful, and if new users utilize it, could stop some common mistakes before they happen.
  3. If it is possible for you to unlock the Help Needed widget, I think that could be useful as a place for new users to ask for help in formatting, coding, etc and a place for people to get input, suggestions, etc for pages they are working on.

I assume that you have good reasons for not using these more, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask. I have to go for now, be back tomorrow. ~ Bobogoobo [Talk | Nation] 03:47, February 12, 2010 (UTC)

You should take a look at them, I find them to be pretty useful and I think they could be more useful if you (as an admin) made use of the ones I mentioned. ~ Bobogoobo [Talk | Nation] 19:30, February 12, 2010 (UTC)
You can just add stuff to MediaWiki:Tips in order to make the Tips widget work. I'm not really sure about the Need Help widget, but it seems that MediaWiki:Needhelp controls that widget.  Pikachurin   Talk • Contribs   22:23, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

Spelling fix Edit

A quick OCD spelling fix, can you rename Category:Scandanavian States to the correct spelling, Scandinavian. Thanks. ~ Bobogoobo [Talk | Nation] 18:15, February 13, 2010 (UTC)

Problems with {{Infobox bloc}} Edit

For some odd reason, {{Infobox bloc}} adds an extra line under the bloc's name when nothing is entered in image or any of the statistics fields (see Green Sanctions Treaty for an example). I've tried fixing the problem, but the infobox just keeps on breaking. Can you help me fix it?  Pikachurin   Talk • Contribs   21:33, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

Thank you! :)  Pikachurin   Talk • Contribs   21:38, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

More Problems Edit

Hi again,

I've just noticed that links which use Special:Outbound have stopped working (such as those generated by {{nationlink}}). Clicking on a link that use Special:Outbound results in this error message:

No such special page

You have requested a special page that is not recognized by Cyber Nations Wiki. A list of all recognized special pages may be found at Special:Specialpages.

Return to Main Page.

Is it just me, or are you getting the same error message?  Pikachurin   Talk • Contribs   00:44, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

I get the same message, both when clicking my nation link and when searching for "Special:Outbound" (althought I don't know what that page is supposed to look like). ~ Bobogoobo [Talk | Nation] 00:48, February 14, 2010 (UTC)
The page that allows this, Special:Outbound, is down. Wikia staff will need to fix it.  Locke   Talk • Alestor    02:07, February 14, 2010 (UTC)
Searching seems to be broken also. ~ Bobogoobo [Talk | Nation] 02:14, February 14, 2010 (UTC)

Plagiarism Edit

The charter of the proposed alliance House Harkonnen is completely plagiarized from the Killer Turtle Brigade's charter. The author has made name changes for the positions, but the majority of the charter is the same. I don't believe the CN wiki supports plagiarism, so I thought it would be best to inform you of this. LordCyvole (talk • contribs) 01:04, February 14, 2010 (UTC)

Update: I told the leader of TKTB about this, and he confronted the author. Apparently the author needed the infobox and he ended up copying the whole article. I have some doubts about how true that story is, but I just checked the page and he has deleted most of the plagiarized material. Preceding unsigned comment added by LordCyvole (talk • contribs)

Charters have been plagarized as such in the past, and it's considered to be an IC issue to be handled via IC means.  Locke   Talk • Alestor    02:07, February 14, 2010 (UTC)
