RE: Ohai & Eras TOC

Sounds good Bobo, I have friday-monday off so I will get around to making my talk page archive then :) I guess I'll have a little into saying "hi, welcome to my talk page, I'll respond to your message as soon as I can. When I respond it will be on your talk page so you the next time you log in you will get a prompt that "you have a message" thanks!" yeah... I think that sounds good... haha.

Not a problem Bobo, if you like the CN:ERAS TOC that way that's cool with me, I just wasn't sure if you wanted it that specifically. I fixed the Academy section on my page, I was on a work computer and they lag super bad so if im in the middle of typing a link and click somewhere else it just screws up stuff >.> doh. The auto margins does sound good since there is so much blank space so I went ahead and implemented that change too! thanks again Bobo! o7   RogalDorn  talk    22:21, Thursday, 1 March 2012 (EST)

"Well, now that you made that change it looks a little squished to me, you might want to give it a width after all :P it's currently about 215px, so you could test in preview to see what looks good. If you want to change it at all, that is" Wait, do you mean the archivebox? :3   RogalDorn  talk    23:54, Friday, 2 March 2012 (EST)

Could you please undelete User:General Mazur/sandbox and User:General Mazur/sandbox/newmain? I know they're a bit out-of-date, but I'm not entirely sure what was in them (or their past revisions) and I'm prone to making code examples for myself in sandboxes, so I'd hate to lose anything I might've simply forgotten about.

In the future, it would be greatly appreciated if you could contact me if you feel something of mine (particularly subpages of my user page) should be deleted. Thanks. ~ General Mazur, at 14:57, March 2, 2012 (UTC)

sig fonts... and im playing with my sig

I am way too picky with fonts. I can't ever find one that i'm happy with. also bobo, can you see why my nowrap isn't breaking my signature in half when it gets a certain length? the entire thing just goes to the next line! >:|    RogalDorn  talk    01:35, Saturday, 3 March 2012 (EST)

I just started this page and havent had the time yet to finish it ..... i was going to finish it later

JohnGato (talk • contribs) 00:08, March 8, 2012 (UTC)

Okay, no problem, I just get suspicious of placeholders since they often never get filled in. Take your time, as long as you do finish it eventually :P.  Bobogoobo | Talk | Nation 19:13, Wednesday, 7 March 2012 (ET)

fark wiki

RogalDorn is not a member of the Farkistan alliance, let alone a member of Farkistan government. We have, for a long time, taken exception to our Wiki being edited without our consultation or permission. The latest edit maintained the factual updates which Rogal made but it is Farkistan policy to NOT link to items on the OWF. Our treaties link back to our website where an accurate copy of the treaty exists and where we can verify it's chain of custody. Hi Bobo,

Have you noticed the main content font change on the wiki recently? I thought it was related to my recent installation of Helvetica, which is the declared default font for the wiki, but even after completely uninstalling Helvetica from my computer and restarting, the wiki still seems to be displaying everything in it. A couple things are really irritating, that being that it seems to be a narrow version of the font, and as well, the multiplication sign, which appears in the definition of filesize on image pages, is missing, displaying a box. I'm starting to think they might've actually embedded the font in the website, which as unlikely as it seems from a legal standpoint, is the only thing I can think could possibly still be causing the issues after I've purged my system of anything named Helvetica.   Michael von Preußen | talk

I think you should delete User:AndreGilles462 and maybe block the IP that made the edit. This seems to be a case of inter-wiki spam (a different IP posted the same content, I think, under a different name on the Clannad Wiki).  Pikachurin   Talk • Contribs   20:23, Monday, 19 March 2012 (ET)

Sanction Race

About the Sanction Race links, I don't have any of them saved or an easy way to add them. I also thought that the links were broken at some point, but either I imagined that or they fixed themselves.

Also, I really need to update that article at some point.  :/ Gopherbashi  Sanction Race Updater   01:57, May 1, 2012 (UTC)

eras & pages

Heya Bobo. I had a quick question. I saw you're replacing a lot of the eras on pages and was wondering about a few of them.

Karma War / Karma–NPO Peace Treaty - changed from the armageddon era to the NPO era. wouldn't it be the armageddon era since it's from a specific part of NPO history and not broad like the departments/charters etc.

I also didn't know how things like the Moldavi Doctrine would wind up being that they were in place until 2009 instead of "2006-present" as the New Pacific Order Era suggests.

just wondering >.<    RogalDorn  talk    21:36, Tuesday, 1 May 2012 (EST)

Ok np Bobo, I always interpreted it differently I guess, I thought that events that happened during an era would get that icon while things that were essentially continual/depts got the generic one. "no prob bob" as my brother always says hehe I was just kinda wondering.    RogalDorn  talk    05:00, Wednesday, 2 May 2012 (EST)
Ohhh, I gotcha Bobo. np hehe, I dont foresee other alliances wanting to create eras and such due to the technical difficulty involved.    RogalDorn  talk    16:53, Wednesday, 2 May 2012 (EST)

Wikia's being more evil than usual

Hey Bobo,

Form message below :v

I just thought I'd share something I noticed today across Wikia sites. It seems Wikia's set a cookie (named Geo) tracking location of its users. I'm not sure how they're deriving the information, which is a lot more accurate for myself than the information provided by a simple WHOIS request on my IP address, but it doesn't seem dependent on standard geolocation, which I have disabled.

Unfortunately, there's a separate cookie set on each wiki you visit, and deleting them has no effect, as they're just reset. However, editing them does seem to work, at least short-term. I have no idea what they're used for, but I'm hoping my edits to a few wikis I use send a message to someone:

Anyway, just thought I'd pass the information along to the admins here in case anyone's interested or concerned.   Michael von Preußen | talk

Well wtf. Thanks for the notification. Though I'm not sure how to edit my cookies :P.  Bobogoobo | Talk | Nation 18:57, Thursday, 10 May 2012 (ET)
Firefox doesn't seem to enable the ability to edit them by default, though there seem to be a handful of applicable addons to do so.   Michael von Preußen | talk

Template:Black w/ line breaks

Heya bobo, i took them out last night because it looks like this upon preview / oasis folks :3. i removed them because it would auto adjust no matter what for oasis or monaco users.    RogalDorn  talk    19:25, Tuesday, 22 May 2012 (EST) Is there a way to have the default width of the color templates be the width of an Oasis page so we can manually insert line breaks so it would look the same for everyone?    RogalDorn  talk    19:27, Tuesday, 22 May 2012 (EST)

IRC convo

I'm just adding my .02 to you/mvp's convo from #cn-wiki. (i know he will see it here so i thought there wasnt a point to double post it on his talk page as well xD)

  • [23:26] <&Bobogoobo[NPO]> I also feel like posting something on the OWF to get feedback and suggestions and stuff for people who don't want to bother with wiki stuff, has anything like that been done before? Or would it be a bad idea? :P
  • [23:30] <+EkaterinaKurae> I'd wager it'd be a bad idea. In general, if people aren't actively helping develop the wiki in some sort... I don't see how their opinion is overly relevant. Goes for me, too, now :v
  • [23:32] <&Bobogoobo[NPO]> Well, still, it's for the community, so if they point out any ways to make stuff easier to use and such that would probably be good.

I think that posting on the OWF and asking if the community has any ideas/suggestions regarding the wiki might be useful. Of course there will be trolls, that's a given and this IS CN we're talking about here :P. but i figure we can ignore those comments and answer as best we can the ideas that are actually good. But who knows, we could get a handful of good ideas or we could get trolled, but at least we could say we reached out to the community and asked for their input. :3     RogalDorn  talk    05:25, Thursday, 24 May 2012 (EST)

It's balanced for oasis users because the long names end up pushing the names down :3 but for us monaco guys it's not balanced because theres enough space for all the names to flush out :3 i spose we could just increase the width from 60% and it would solve both issues though xD.    RogalDorn  talk    10:01, Friday, 25 May 2012 (EST)

Hehe, yeah that was my idea/rationale behind doing that :3    RogalDorn  talk    10:26, Friday, 25 May 2012 (EST)

job tags template

Hey Rogal, it's finally my summer vacation (today is the first full day) and I have already decided to get to work on that job tags template :P. Are there any alliances you want added to it in addition to NPO, Invicta, and IRON? Or anything that's changed since we last spoke about it?

Hmmm, not really that I can think of Bobo. I know very few other alliances actually have job tags to make use of them. Will the coding be difficult to the point where i would have a hard time adding code for another alliance (although i doubt that will happen)—  RogalDorn

Heya Bobo. There are only a few department pages for IRON/Invicta. The IRON Order and the IRON Council for IRON and the Invicta Department of Misinformation for Invicta. Hopefully more are made. i'll make the redirects in a bit.—  RogalDorn

Yeah, there's the old version and the new version. I've never tried just typing in "indefinite"/"infinite", I never assumed that it would read "indefinite" as a time/date. I assumed it was a drop down option for ya.   Rogal  talk    02:10,12/5/2012 (UTC)

Re: non-current, non-important information

I don't even know how to use these talk pages, but I find it irritating that I don't have a say in what goes on my alliance's own main page, when I intend for the main page to hold current, important information only as to not clutter it up with non-current, not pertinent information. The KDF bloc page can be edited to whoever's heart's content for historical purposes, but I don't see a reason why it has to beat me in the face every time I go to edit my alliance's main page. Not ALL of our former treaties are listed on the main page, what's the deal with this stupid strip I'm getting shoved down my throat?

Template question

Heya Bobo (or MvP, if you are reading the email notification), so, I have been trying to figure out how to make a new template and I can't quite figure it out. Hopefully this narrative makes sense. Basically I want to make a template out of this...

Award image Award Dates Notes
award image award name date notes

I just can't figure out how to do the "it adds X amount of rows equal to the amount of awards". Like if I wanted to have two rows of awards on one page and 17 on another page. The images I'll have pulled from a "bank" similar to how template:flag works. For "award" I think a simple |award_name#:[[award name]] would work for the syntax or some such. Dates and notes would be the same, simple input parameter. I sure hope I'm making sense here lol.   Rogal  talk   23:44, May 20, 2013 (UTC)

Not sure what you're intending the syntax to be exactly, but you'd do something like this: {{#if:{{{award_name2|}}}|<new row and cells>}}. Is that what you mean?  Bobogoobo | Talk | Nation 22:12, Monday, 20 May 2013 (ET)
Huzzah! you are the best!   RogalDorn   04:57, May 21, 2013 (UTC)

It's really up to personal preference. I like having it show as it was when I signed the page, but the counterpoint of reducing coding is a good one (plus some people prefer it always to look the same, which has its own advantages).  Bobogoobo | Talk | Nation 22:21, Thursday, 10 October 2013 (ET)

Template:Alliance infobox stats parameter

Is it broken for you? :3 Whenever I click on it on any alliance page it loads a blank page and says "The page cannot be found". —  RogalDorn   07:34, November 11, 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, it's been broken since alliances were changed to IDs, and I never got around to fixing it. That's what I made {{aid}} for, so that we didn't need to add a parameter for alliance ID. I guess for defunct alliances we could hide the stats links? I can update the infobox tomorrow I guess if you want.  Bobogoobo | Talk | Nation 02:39, Monday, 11 November 2013 (ET)
Hrmm, what would be the easiest and most painless way to go about it? Could we just edit alliances and for the stats parameter type in {{subst:aid|{{BASEPAGENAME}}}}? Just a thought... —  RogalDorn   07:43, November 11, 2013 (UTC)
I don't like the formatting of the code for the stats anyway. But now it could just be {{aid|{{{name}}}}} for the stats (will look to see if the URL structures have changed also). Don't need any of the encoding stuff anyway. We don't need to edit alliance pages at all, that was the point.  Bobogoobo | Talk | Nation 02:58, Monday, 11 November 2013 (ET)
In case it becomes important, allow me to note that alliance that disband/cease-to-exist and then reforms gets a new alliance ID, not the same ID as the alliance with that name previously held. ~ vonPreuſ3en

Done, let me know if there are any problems. Per MvP's point, you can disable the links by setting ID to 0. ID can also be manually specified, though that won't be necessary as long as {{aid}} is up to date (I'll update it tonight).  Bobogoobo | Talk | Nation 16:32, Monday, 11 November 2013 (ET)

Hey bobo, do you know why the stats links for League of Small Superpowers don't work? :/ I can't figure it out.. —  RogalDorn   19:36, November 16, 2013 (UTC)

I presume it's because their {{aid}} (and in-game alliance) is 'LoSS', while their infobox reads 'League of Small Superpowers'. Issues like that, or capitalization disparities, may cause problems. ~ vonPreuſ3en
Yeah, NATO is in the same predicament, since their ingame AA is NATO and all. —  RogalDorn   19:52, November 16, 2013 (UTC)

I honestly can't tell, but I'm not entirely sure the unsortable class can be used on part of an otherwise sortable table. Ignoring that for a moment, however, everything seems to be working except for 'Aid sent' and 'Aid received', which I think are both broken because of your use of unsortable. ~ vonPreuſ3en
I took out the unsortable, but the issue is evident in this screenshot. :( Why is 1k tech above 200 tech when it should be below 900 tech... etc. You get the same problem if you sort by money. :/ —  RogalDorn   06:08, November 24, 2013 (UTC)
Hm, I see what you mean. It's possible we have an outdated version of the sorting data that counts comma-delimited numbers as "mixed data" (ie, numbers and letters), and therefore sorts it alphabetically (where 1000 comes before 20). Unfortunately, I'm having trouble locating the exact code that does it, which makes me wonder if it's a MediaWiki plugin rather than just existing in MediaWiki:Common.js or the sort. :( ~ vonPreuſ3en
