The Mage's Guild was a small alliance formerly on the White Team and formerly on brown.

Founding[]

General Gorgoth decided it was time to try forming her own alliance again and left to set up her own alliance, she met another player called Archangel1 and they decided to create the Mage's Guild. The Mage's Guild encountered another magical themed alliance (House of Slytherin, formerly Free COBRA Army) and negotiated the HoS/TMG amalgamation treaty where the two alliances merged.

Favourable terms were given towards the smaller alliance with the much larger alliance adopting the charter name and logo of the smaller alliance and General Gorgoth being made the Archmage (second-in-command) of the alliance with Archangel1 as the High Mage of IA and the original ruler of House of Slytherin, Roal36 becoming the first Guildmaster.

WIN bloc and the Monster Mash war[]

General Gorgoth then negotiated with Lucius Optimus, a former leader of FCA and at the time (and at the time of this publication leader of The Imperial Entente) and President Hardin (Head of Monster's University a short lived variant name of M. Inc) to found the WIN bloc and became the chancellor of the bloc. Monster's University then attacked a number of targets and instigated the Monster Mash war.

In the war Roal36 left to fight with Order of Tenebris and General Gorgoth became the Guildmaster (leader) of the Mage's Guild with Archangel1 becoming the new Archmage. General Gorgoth knowing the membership of the alliance was still weak from previous conflicts especially the Three Strikes of the COBRA War and quickly negotiated out of the war since the bloc was only an MDoAP so they were not compelled to join in aggression. Both TIE and TMG withdrew from the war.

The SNX Controversy[]

To leave the war Gorgoth made a deal with an old friend, Immortan Junka of SNX who agreed to offer favourable treatment and protection to TMG in return for resigning the alliance from the WIN bloc or face destruction and the deal would only last 24 hours. Under the circumstances she agreed to the treaty which was not well received by the alliance and in response General Gorgoth dissolved the treaty and stepped down as guildmaster and let Archangel1 take over and returned to the position of Archmage.

Archangel1 made a deal with the Monster Mash Coalition to end the war and ATLAS (subsequenty merged with GATO) and SLAP (later cancelled the agreement on peaceful terms) agreed to be protectors of the alliance. Sometime after the alliance migrated from brown to white

The Niggnogg Affair[]

While in the position of Archmage, General Gorgoth attempted to improve relations with other alliances including working with General Kanabis to resolve COBRA's hasty response to a rogue multi who was also a key member of his own alliance. The multi created 3 key accounts.

The first, Nigel, was the oldest and was a Royal Guard in COBRA, the second was called Niggnogg and joined TMG under the pretense of being a returning experienced player needing help setting up. Once joined he attacked COBRA and due to bad communication and judgement COBRA declared war on TMG. Rather than calling in their protector and escalating the war Archangel1 attempted to contact General Kanabis the King Cobra, to no avail.

General Gorgoth who had previously talked with General Kanabis managed to get through and explain that it was a rogue and in response to requests of 3 million dollars in reparations to the affected player who Niggnogg had attacked, she sent a maxed out aid slot. During later investigations the multi was discovered and a third account Kasra was found inside TMG and was later kicked from the AA.

The COBRA/VG-TMG war[]

Soon after the issue was resolved between COBRA and TMG but before Niggnogg's identity was revealed, Varangian Guard declared full war on TMG. Despite the VG attack being the result of a miscommunication, VG refused to acknowledge their fault and threatened to break the ceasefire at the mention of reparations. In the end unconditional peace was declared as TMG nations had to rebuild without aid. With the conclusion of the conflict came the TMG-COBRA treaty on the 1st January 2017.

A PIAT where TMG officially recognized COBRA and finally brought an end to the COBRA/VG-TMG war and technically the longstanding ceasefire of the Three Strikes War. Soon after this much disputed but pre-approved treaty Archangel1 resigned as Guildmaster and left the AA citing personal reasons. General Gorgoth then became the guildmaster of the Mage's Guild for the 3rd time.

Expanding Relations[]

General Gorgoth then went on to make PIATs with both The Mechanicus and the Ironborn and an ODoAP with Lucius Optimus and had them all announced on the same day 12th January 2017. She hoped that these alliances would strengthen the external links of the alliance rebuild the long neglected relationship after WIN with TIE and lead to new opportunities.

3rd Charter of The Mages Guild[]

Article I: The Government The Government structure is that of a Guildmaster and an Archmage with a Council of Mages. The Guildmaster title will be passed on with the Guildmaster appointing the Archmage who in turn appoints the High Mages of IA, FA, Finance and Defense. The Council of Mages shall then be comprised of 5 members who will be elected every 3 months. For the day to day running of the alliance the Guildmaster, Archmage and High Mages should be able to work with certain autonomy however for larger decisions, treaties, constitutional changes, etc. They must be passed by a majority of the Council of Mages. The Council of Mages can also vote out the the Archmage or Guildmaster with a majority. The Council of Mages can also question any decision passed by another government member for up to 3 days with a Council Objection. This decision is then voted on. In the event that the membership is below 30 members then the council of mages will be the High Mages plus the Archmage.

Article II: Recruitment and Joining Recruitment shall fall under the duties of Internal Affairs. Anyone wishing to join is requested fill in an application with their username, nation link, any outstanding issues we should be aware of (unpaid tech, wars, etc.), resources and why you want to join. This application must then be approved by the Guildmaster, Archmage or the High Mage for Internal Affairs.

Article III: Defense The alliance will retaliate to any attacks by raiders or other alliances. Internal conflicts are also forbidden except if prearranged. If any Acolyte wishes to raid another nation then they must submit a raiding request in the Defense thread and have it approved by the Guildmaster, The Archmage or High Mage of Defense. All of higher ranks are expected to be able to use good judgement when raiding and not to attack any other alliance. A declaration of war on another alliance must be passed by the Guildmaster, Archmage AND a council vote for an aggressive act of war or by the Guildmaster OR Archmage in a defensive act of war.

Article IV: Internal Affairs All members of the alliance are expected to maintain a certain conduct within the alliance and on its forums. On our own forums this is a relaxed policy but we will not tolerate threatening, insulting or conduct unbecoming of a member. Members are requested to be active on the forums to keep the alliance as active as possible. Members when recruited will be trained by more senior members to reach their full potential.

Article V: Foreign Affairs All diplomats are expected to act in a manner befitting of a diplomat of our alliance and maintain the utmost respect and courtesy in both our dealings with our allies as with our enemies. Diplomats shall be appointed by The Guildmaster, Archmage or High Mage of Foreign Affairs. Diplomats may act in the role of plenipotentiaries although any final decision must be approved by the The Guildmaster, Archmage AND the Council of Mages. Diplomats will also encourage members of other alliances to establish embassies with us and contribute to our forums.

Article VI: Finance In the area of finance the High Mage of Finance will endeavor to ensure that all trade circles are complete with the maximum bonus resources available for the mutual benefit of the members. All internal tech deals must be made to the benefit of the smaller nations at rates of 6/100 or 9/100 depending on the tech dealer's preference. In external tech deals each member may sell or buy at a rate of their own discretion.

Article VII: Justice If a player is found to be in violation of the expected conduct of the alliance or commits an act of treason then a majority of councilors, the Guildmaster or the Archmage can place an official accusation on the player in question. A thread will then be opened to allow the player to defend themselves. A player must act as their own defense and another player will be named the prosecutor (the prosecutor will be selected separately for each case by the Archmage). In all of these matters the Archmage must remain neutral and impartial (unless they are the ones on trial). After 3 days have passed since the opening of the thread, the Archmage shall pass their verdict and cast an appropriate punishment as deemed by them. These may vary from warnings, to fines, to expulsion from the alliance. If a member of the government is found to be failing in their duties then they may be called for an impeachment trial where they may give their defense and the person bringing forward the accusation must act as the prosecutor. If the Archmage is on trial then the High Mage of Internal Affairs will take the Archmage's place as the judge and if both are on trial then the Council of Mages can with a 3/5 majority select a suitable candidate.
