Sol-3 is a closed roleplaying universe. J Andres created Sol-3 as an alternative to CNRP, the dominant universe in the Open National RP sections of the Cyber Nations Forums.

Calendar[]
Sol-3 utilizes an accelerated calendar. One month of standard earth time is equal to one year of time in Sol-3. This calendar system was first devised in 2009[1] Based on the adoption date, January 1, 2009 in earth time was established to be January 1, 2009 on Sol-3. The current year is 2197
The current date can be found below by comparing the Earth date of the month to the date range on Sol-3.

Technology Level[]
Up until 2085, the technology level of Sol-3 could be considered modern. However, in May of 2085, the Grand Mexican War concluded with two hours of nuclear warfare, which destroyed all the major cities of the world. Since then, while the technological knowledge may be modern, the ability to use and manufacture certain technological items has been supremely hampered. Overall, technology can typically be described as varying somewhere between the Second Industrial Revolution and the First World War. More details of the technological advancement is described below.
Agriculture[]
Agriculture is primarily varies between the 1880s-1930s, with the exception that mechanical farm equipment may not be readily available. The one significant exception is the WASL which is a beyond-modern times agricultural facility capable of producing foodstuffs without a significant land footprint or labor needs.
Communication[]
Communication is approximately at the 1930s level. Telephones are available as is broadcast radio. Broadcast television is not available and visual recording for the purposes of movies is rare. Wireless communication such as via cell phones in the modern era is not possible. A wireless network does exist which has limited internet capabilities. This is realistically limited to plain text only, and only in the cities, and in practice is only used to send email communications.
Computers[]
Computer terminals, like laptops and desktops are available, although significant networks are not. Computers are used for word formatting and printing, record keeping, and sending emails. Manufacturing processes for advanced chips, etc has been lost. Parts are generally salvaged from pre-war artifacts. Programming knowledge has significantly degraded as it has been lost to the generations.
Electricity[]
Electricity is commonly available from various renewable sources, at least within major cities. Within major cities, outages are not widespread or long lasting. The further from a major city, the more frequent electricity outages become.
Manufacturing[]
Manufacturing and industrial capabilities are at the 1930s level. Mills are common. Supply chain issues preclude the development of advanced goods.
Medicine[]
Medicine is approximately at the 1950s level; however, supply chain and limits on global trade may make pharmaceutical availability scarce. Medical knowledge has not significantly degraded.
Transportation[]
Transportation is approximately at the 1880s level. Automobiles aren't in working order and the infrastructure to support them have not been maintained. Bicycles are popular ways to travel within a city, and horses and trains are common ways to travel between cities. Rumors exist of electric motorcycles, but they are not widely available. Goods are primarily transported between cities by train. The shipbuilding industry is limited more by the limited engagement with outside nations than manufacturing capabilities.
Weapons[]
Warfare is approximately at the World War I level. Supply chain issues have limited the availability of ammunition, but rifles and handguns are available. Tanks and aircraft are not available for the reasons discussed in the transportation section.
