2009 April Election Background and Outcome[]

On April 18, 20009, the Province of British Columbia held an election and referendum. The referendum was to decide whether or not to continue utilising the Premier Pole Passing System, and if it should be replaced with a Single Transferable Vote System. In the Premier Pole Passing System, whichever Legislative Candidate recieves the most votes, will be the winner. This system would often result in Elections being determined by whichever party controlled the populous South Coast, leaving Northern Communities mostly ignored by the Government, despite holding 2/3's of the Provinces population. The April Election ended with the Business Party, which has traditionally held the South, forming a Majority government, leaving the Northern Communities ignored yet again.

May Revolution[]

The Militant Socialist Party, a radical offshoot of the Novel Democracy Party consisting of disgruntled Northerners, led a rebellion against the B.C. Government. They blew up bridges and blockaded roads, and assumed control of government offices, demanding proportional representation. The Business Party of Canada asserted that the methods of the Militant Socialist Party were un-democratic, and refused to discuss matters further. However, the National Government stepped in, and decided to hold a plebicite, to determine whether Northern B.C. communities wished to stay apart of Canada. In the end, the plebicite passed and Northern B.C. sperated from Southern B.C. and Canada, and formed the Socialist Democratic Republic of Canuckistan.

Organisation and Stability[]

As of June 18, the SDRC is still relatively unorganized. The city of Prince George has been established as the Capital, however, most of the countries administration is done at a regional level, resulting in each region being politically independent. The government has done little to create political unity at a national level, but has been working at unifying the economy and military.
