In the empire of J Andres, in addition to the King or Queen, there are multiple stations of peerage. The most common titles, in order of precedence is Archduke, Duke, Marquis, Earl, Viscount, and Baron. A Duke, Marquis, or Viscount are typically hereditary peerages, while Earl and Baron are typically lifetime peerages. The Order of Succession typically goes to the eldest child[1] of the current monarch, or to another member of the monarch's family. In the absence of a family member, another individual who has been denoted with peerage may take up the crown. Those who can claim relation to Josef I or are members of the other royal houses are added to the order of succession.
Monarch and Consort[]
The monarch and their consort are typically styled as King and Queen, and are the highest rank in J Andres peerage.
Princes and Princesses[]
The rank of prince or princess is granted to the children and grandchildren of the reigning monarch at the time of their birth. The proper form of address for Princes and Princesses is “his/her royal highness”.
From the time of formation until about the 2180s, some princely titles were reserved for the heir apparent. This has varied between the Prince of Newport, Prince of Saratoga, Prince of Endor Cuidad, Prince of Porto Pacis, and the Prince of Providence.
Since the ascension of Princess Elizabeth, Princess of Saratoga, specific princely titles have fallen into disuse.
Archduchies[]
Archdukedoms in J Andres are a special hereditary title, originally created as Duchies in 1996-2016 and elevated to Archduchies in 2179. Unlike most other hereditary titles of which there is no inheritance along collateral lines, these titles are eligible for any descendant of the first Dukes, Ben Richards and Adrik Annan who were the Duke of Boston and the Duke of Rossingol. Archdukes and archduchesses use the form of address "the most honorable."
Duchies[]

Marquisates[]
The title of Marquis or Marquise was introduced by Phillippe IV as part of his royal reforms in 2133. Marquisates are hereditary and return to the crown in the existing titleholder dies without heirs. The proper form of address is "The Most Honorable." There are four extant Marquisates: Marquis of Providence, Marquis of Danbury, Marquis of Syracuse, Marquis of Montauk.
Counties[]
Counties are life peerages designated by the Monarch. They may be reassigned if the titleholder receives a higher rank or for other reasons. All counties correspond to the eight counties in the nation. Each Earl or Countess is expected to live in that region and is the official representative of the crown in the area. As a result, while in most cases, most titleholders will not have multiple titles, some may have the title of Earl/Countess in combination with other existing hereditary titles. Earls and countesses use the form of address "the honorable." The children of earls may be addressed as lords and ladies. There are eight counties and corresponding Earls/Countesses: Tremont, Blackstone, Danshire, Katherine, Winthrop, Lanier, Norfolk, and Gabriel.
Viscountcies[]

Some Viscountcies are used as titles for the heir apparent of a dukedom. The other Viscountcies are Viscount Warwick, Viscount Oswego, Viscount Cambridge, Viscount Candlewood, Viscount Gloucester, Viscount Greenbush, and Viscount Glenmont.
Baronies[]
The head of a barony is a baron or baroness. Baronies are not hereditary and may be granted by the monarch or a hereditary duke. Barons and baronesses use the form of address "the honorable."
