Pacifica marches ever on, through the present and into the future. The prints of their jackboots on the Cyberverse have shaped history and have contributed more to the world than any other force. The Pacifica Monogatari is but a short telling of their long and illustrious trek, but this chronicler hopes to do it justice.

Part I: The Short Version[]

The game began on January 6th, 2006. Very little happened in the beginning. Minor alliances were formed and a war was fought, establishing GATO as the sole power in the world.

The New Pacific Order was founded around January 27th by a group of individuals who had migrated from a NationStates group of the same name. Using a mass immigration from the many members of that group as well as recruitment from native CN players, the Order grew and grew. Though GATO recognized quickly that the NPO was becoming the premier alliance in the game, a smaller alliance called NAAC did not. They insulted and maligned the Order at every chance, and finally Emperor Ivan had enough. With military planning and unity never before seen in the game, the Order launched a blitz on NAAC and utterly destroyed the fledgling alliance. The war dragged on for some time, but it was clear that the NPO had become the world's second superpower.

Soon after, the ODN, another migrant group from NS and a vehement opponent of the Order in both realms, began to take jabs at the NPO. After learning about an ODN spy planted within the alliance, the NPO readied itself for war, but the ODN initiated hostilities by launching one of the game's first nuclear weapons against the NPO. In another blitz, the NPO used their coordinated and fearsome war machine to destroy the ODN quickly. The war dragged on for much longer than it should have because the ODN were using the new aid system to send their fighting nations aid from stronger nations in peace mode. Admin banned this tactic, and the war came to a close.

Peace generally reigned for the following month, punctuated by one war (ICSN vs. NPO and LUE) and several attempts to take away Pacifican dominance such as UFO (an alliance between ODN and LUE) and the Independence Council (GGA, UCS, ODN, and LUE). Though they failed to challenge the NPO directly, LUE emerged as the leader of anti-NPO sentiment.

The NAAC became involved in another war with the NPO after the Order caught a NAAC spy within their ranks. Though diplomacy was tried, the NAAC leaders failed to react properly and war was declared. The NPO, as always, destroyed their opponents in a quick blitz, though the war went on longer and allies, such as GATO and Legion, entered to help destroy the NAAC. In response to the NAAC's failure to provide a stable alliance for the Blue Team and marked incompetence, the New Polar Order (NpO) was formed. This alienated some of Pacifica's wartime allies, who would later betray the Order and side with the honorless Coalition of Cowardice, also known as the CoaLUEtion, during the Great Patriotic War. Peace lasted for some time after this war, with no major events taking place until the Great Patriotic War itself.

Yaridovich, a LUE leader, posted a story about the graphic rape of a female player, as well as several other pornographic and violent stories involving CN players. Though there was an apology, the LUE membership praised Yaridovich and continued to laugh at his graphic post. Tygaland, then Emperor of the NpO, declared war by nuking LUE member and chief praiser of the post Duffman, and thus the Great War began. GATO betrayed their alliance with the NPO and actually defended LUE for their shameless remarks. The NAAC, ODN, and dozens of small alliances also piled on, jealous of NPO dominance. In the middle of the fight, a spy ring known as the Coven of the Lost was uncovered, with prominent members in the Legion, GATO, and NPO. Using false information from the NPO traitor, claiming that the NPO planned to attack the Legion after the war, the Legion broke its alliance and declared war on the NPO, but only for a day. Despite being outnumbered heavily and fighting with the entire world against them, the Orders fought to a draw due to their superior organization and prowess. Soon after peace had been declared and despite that the NPO was considered defeated, the NPO regained their spot as the greatest power in the world, defying all odds.

The Order also learned to keep from diplomatic isolation, even though previous allies had broken their words. Instead of looking again to treacherous former partners, the Order found new allies, such as MDC, GGA, VE, and other honorable alliances, and eventually formed the Initiative. When an alliance called Farkistan was formed by LUE agitator theblitz, GOONS reacted. The imported alliance (from the boards Fark.com) promised its members war on GOONS and the Initiative. GOONS declared war to keep the aggressive alliance from ever becoming a threat, but LUE saw their puppet alliance being destroyed and counterattacked. Once the NPO began to respond to LUE aggression, other former CoaLUEtion alliances, now called the League, declared war on the entire Initiative. After less than a week of fighting, none of it with nuclear weapons save for the many League "rogues," the League was in shambles. LUE left to carry on their futile war, while the rest of the League accepted peace. LUE later accepted a generous peace offer that would keep them from threatening the stability of the Cyberverse in the near future.

Peace was not to last long, though one notable incident occurred between the end of the Farklands/Great War II and the beginning of Great War III; Pax Pacifica. The illustrious bank of the Order coordinated and sent the then-massive sum of 615 million Francos' worth of aid to Pacific nations and Initiative allies. This amount of aid was entirely unprecedented and proved to the world that the Initiative was a very stable bloc.

War would not destroy the Initiative either. After repeated threats from GATO and proof of their spying upon the Order, war was declared. The war was effectively won on the first night, as hundreds of GATO nations were met with anarchy during a midnight blitz. The war quickly expanded; NAAC and Legion activated their MDPs and attacked Initiative allies who were still neutral, and hordes of bandwagon alliances followed. ODN attacked GOONS, who were still neutral, while b attacked VE out of jealousy over VE's recent gain of a forum mask. Poor planning, inefficient leadership, and a lack of aid from banks soon destroyed the enemy Flatliner forces. Initiative nations tore through their aggressors and inflicted massive damage despite the opposing coalition's surprise attack. Within days of the start of the war, the conclusion was evident; the Initiative was winning. GATO, ODN, Legion, and NAAC were all falling in overall strength rapidly, losing millions of nation strength within the first days. /b/, in despair, decided that their time in CN was over and participated in the worst defilement ever seen in the game. The CN forums were shut down under an onslaught of shock images. /b/ was not done yet, though- they attempted to overload the server, and failing at this, they hacked the game and stole the source code. The game was then shut down temporarily. After a weekend's break, the game and war resumed. /b/ nations were met with just fury by the entire world, while the rest of the Flatliners continued to fall by millions of strength. Soon resignations began to pour in. The little alliances that had hoped for bandwagon glory pulled out when they realized victory could not be theirs. Legion surrendered and agreed to disarmament and reparations; ODN and GATO followed suit. Rather than pay for their aggressive war, the Socialist Workers Front, LUE, and NAAC disbanded. Through sheer power the enemies of Pacifica were defeated.

The Initiative now dominated CN, but what constituted the Initiative changed significantly. Nordreich collapsed, VE departed, and CIS was expelled, with the latter two eventually coming to war with their former allies. FAN repeatedly violated the sovereignty of Pacifica and its allies and was first expelled from and then destroyed by the Initiative, leading to a long history of enmity between the proud FAN and Pacifica. The treaty was accordingly expanded to bring in MCXA and Gen[m]ay. Meanwhile, [[>_<]] evolved through mergers into \m/. The Initiative was still secure and still on top.

Yet misfortune would still find Pacifica. A group of Pacificans led by Ivan Moldavi decided they were no longer happy with the rule of then-Emperor TrotskysRevenge. They strong-armed him into stepping down and Ivan Moldavi took over as Emperor. Expectedly, TrotskysRevenge was not content with this. So, the deposed Emperor and his loyal Imperial Officers planned a counterattack and retook the throne. While the matter would be resolved, it left a bitter divide between Pacifica and Polaris, which had supported Ivan.

This divide would lead to conflict in the leadership of the World Unity Treaty. A war began between the Unjust Path, led by GOONS, and the coalition known as ~, led by Polaris. Since Pacifica had friends on both sides of the conflict, they made a wise move in trying to remain neutral in the war. Some alliances would not allow this to happen. The alliance GOLD decided to aid an old enemy in FAN. They were planning to send FAN a large amount of aid in order to begin a new front against Pacifica. While Pacifica wanted to remain neutral, there was no choice but to attack GOLD. Eventually, due to treaty obligations, Pacifica would fight several other alliances. Without intention to do so, Pacifica ended up in the Unjust War. Victory came swiftly. The Unjust war was a mere blip on Pacifica's history, but its effects would forever change the cyberverse.

Following the Unjust War, a new age of Pacifica came about. The Order worked to create a new age of peace with Pacifica at the helm. To do this, the Order helped create two massive defensive blocs. The first was known as One Vision, which contained close friends of the era such as Polaris, GGA, and IRON. This would not be enough to ensure peace alone, so a second bloc, the Continuum, was born. It was made up of the 12 premier alliances of Planet Bob and contained millions of nation strength. It was the first time such a large amount of nations would come together. These new diplomatic victories would keep Pacifica strong for some time.

However, the Pax Pacifica was not as peaceful as one would think. Over the course of many months, alliances would step up to try to breach Pacifican power. Old enemies like FAN and GATO tried to test Pacifica by violating surrender terms which they had accepted and agreed to. Alliances such as Golden Sabers, Wolfpack, and the Green Protection Agency attempted to mock or weaken her. They all faced the wrath of the Order's Magnificent War Machine.

Pacifica at this time would lose a close friend with the ascension of Electron Sponge back to the throne of the Emperor of Polaris. Many Pacificans were not too fond of the course their long-time brothers were taking. The situation worsened further when Polaris accused Imperial Counselor Dilber of plotting against them. This would lead to a conflict of words between the two sides. The leaders of Polaris came to the Pacifican IRC channel and began revealing personal details about the Emperor and trolled the Order. This led to Emperor Moo-Cows canceling the Ordinance of Order, the longest surviving treaty in the Cyberverse. This would lead to a long dry spell in relations between Pacifica and Polaris.

Having only small skirmishes wouldn't last long through. Global tensions were rising and another global war was soon set to happen. The powder keg finally went off in the War of the Coalition (WoTC). The war began with an alliance called Hyperion accepting a member who was on the GGA permanent ZI list. Since Polaris was an ally of Hyperion a global war erupted when they declared war on GGA. In response, the Coalition entered the conflict, including alliances such as The Order of the Paradox and The Multicolored Cross-X Alliance. Pacifica's role in this war as not as grandiose as in others, however. The Mushroom Kingdom attacked an ally of Pacifica, so in return the Order brought war to MK and its allies. After many days of intense fighting, the war ended in a Pacifican victory. The Mushroom Kingdom was given reparations and other terms for choosing to escalate the war via widespread nuclear strikes, a rare occurrence up until that time. This war would result in grave consequences for Pacifica.

The WoTC did not solve any of the problems in the world. It merely created more conflict. As the possibility of conflict grew, many treaties were canceled and new ones were signed. Longtime allies such as Sparta, FOK, and VE canceled their treaties with the Order. In the end, the war began with Pacifica declaring war on an alliance known as Ordo Verde for spying on the Order. With unprecedented speed, a coalition formed to fight against the Order. This group would be known as Karma. Former allies like Sparta were part of this coalition and attacked Pacifica themselves. Many former friends chose to run and hide, while others delayed their entry. Nevertheless, Pacifica mounted a strong counter-offensive against Karma. The war would last many months, and while Pacifica would remain strong, it would not be enough to win the war. When Pacifica was prepared to contemplate surrender, the nations of Karma offered outrageous terms that Pacifica could never hope to meet. The war went on and on until the alliances of Karma finally offered the worst terms in CN history. With few options left, Pacifica accepted them. The Karma war would finally end after almost four months of nuclear warfare, but the Order would still be among the top 12 alliances.

Pacifica went through many changes following the end of the war. Most notable was the resignation of longtime Emperor Moo-Cows. The appointment of the Fourth Emperor of Pacifica took place on September 29th, 2009. Cortath would become the new Emperor in the midst of low morale and massive reparations. The Order had to pay the largest reparations in Cyber Nations history. The alliance's economy and military sector reformed itself to do so. It was a dark time, but there was a light at the end of the tunnel. Pacifica had lost its first war, but it was not done in Cyber Nations- it was merely going through a new evolution into something better.

Cortath led the Order through this bleak period as well as could be expected. Though Pacifica was under enforced diplomatic isolation, Cortath was able to establish the first friendships of the post-Armageddon era. He also streamlined the government, building the framework of the current chain of command and cutting away the endless layers of bureaucracy that previous Emperors had built. Sadly, he was unable to stem the ancient hate of the Order in some other parts of the game.

On January 17th, 2011, a global war erupted between Pandora's Box and the New Polar Order and her allies on charges of spying. On January 24th, the bloc Doomhouse (Mushroom Kingdom, Umbrella, and GOONS) and FAN preemptively declared war on the New Pacific Order without any proper casus belli. The war dragged on for four months. During these months, The New Pacific Order also issued statements offering an apology to FAN and the succession of Mary the Fantabulous to the Emperor's throne after Cortath retired due to real life. Eventually, more than $2 billion in reparations had to be paid by the allies of Pacifica (though not Pacifica herself), and 1.8 million NS worth of peace-mode nations had to be released from the upper tier of the New Pacific Order to fight a 21 day ‘limited war’. Though a military defeat, the consequences were less dire than the Armageddon War, whilst Pacifica maintained a sanction and inflicted heavy damage on her enemies.

Under Mary, the structure of the Order was heavily renewed. With the top tier of bankers damaged from the war and a new generation of Pacificans coming in from below, the Bank and Tech Corps were merged into one streamlined Economic Corps as part of a grand post-war rebuilding plan. Internal Affairs began to consolidate under Mary, first absorbing Media and then functions previously under the Alliance Council, to assume a structure similar to the present configuration.

Pacifica rapidly recovered to its pre-war strength and continued growing. A spate of new treaties supplemented Pacifica's new strength. Most notable among these is our current treaty with TIO. Relations with TLR and GATO began under Mary, marking a clear direction in the foreign affairs of the Order. Under Mary, the current practice of alliances based on goals rather than on dependence on Pacifica for survival or growth (as had led to the Initiative) was put into full effect, and this practice has borne many strong relationships.

The era of peace was ended with the beginning of the Grudge War, when TOP and IRON declared war on the New Polar Order. Without entering the war directly, as attacking another Order was still abhorrent to many Pacificans, the New Pacific Order declared support for IRON and TOP on November 26th, 2011. This declaration was made in order to make clear that the Order would support its allies who were likely to become involved, Valhalla and Olympus. One week after the Order's declaration of support, FAN and Fark decided to mount a preemptive attack on Pacifica, hoping the old hate of the Order would draw a bandwagon and give them victory. Instead, they found themselves mostly unassisted against a fully rearmed Pacific and a core of loyal allies. With its attackers finding no support (largely due to their own allies being bogged down on other fronts), Pacifica was able to not only defeat FAN and Fark, but also fulfill its commitment to Olympus by attacking Sparta. War dragged on until January 23rd, 2012, when the New Pacific Order declared its first victory in almost three years.

Soon after claiming victory in the Grudge War, Mary stepped down as Emperor in favor of her Regent, Brehon. Brehon would prove to be a dynamic emperor, leading Pacifica with a boldness not seen since before the Armageddon War. The structure of the military was modified to increase cooperation, and thus war capability, and new military standards were imposed. Meanwhile, Pacifica signed a stream of new treaties, building itself a powerful core of allies. Brehon also increased government transparency, keeping the Body Republic informed of the workings of the top levels of the Order.

While Brehon was a military-minded Emperor, the first war of his reign started far from Pacifica. Dave93, a player who CSN had convicted of spying and sentenced to ZI, was admitted to MK. Before any other alliances had entered what started as a limited war between MK and CSN, Brehon rose to the occasion and publicly condemned MK's actions, then declared that the Pacific would defend its allies. This led to war against GOD and VE, both of which were thoroughly defeated. Pacifica's military prowess won it the war, and Brehon's pre-war speech won the political battle and established the Order as a world leader once more.

More of our standing treaties were signed, and the alliance reached new heights in total strength, surpassing ten million total NS after the war. Brehon spent much of the postwar period building a coalition to take on MK- his speech had attracted numerous potential wartime allies, and in this period, good relations with the Order were in high demand. The defeated coalition of the preceding Dave War flocked to Pacifica as a prospective leader of an inevitable war to end MK's power in CN.

It was common practice in the alliances of the Doomhouse bloc to interfere with anti-rogue and anti-ghost operations which other alliances had undertaken. In one such instance, Umbrella filled the war slots of a rogue enemy of Anarchy, Inc. and refused to attack, effectively releasing the pirate. A coalition quickly massed as Anarchy, Inc. informed its closest allies- Pacifica among them- and the core of what would become the Equilibrium coalition declared war on Umbrella on January 18th, 2013.

The war was won through overwhelming force, but Pacifica lost the diplomatic esteem of much of the game in this war. Opportunistic members of the coalition once again raised the specter of Pacifican dominion over CN, allies were caught on both sides of the war, and by the end of the war, it was clear that Pacifica had not fared well diplomatically. The following months would require a great deal of damage control to maintain foreign policy, and a political bloc emerged not long after the war, expressly intending to destroy Pacifica.

Farrin Xies, who had built much of Pacifica's foreign affairs, succeeded Brehon in April 2013. He was immediately confronted with the Herculean task of keeping the Order's remaining treaties intact. He proved more than up to the challenge- not only were relations mended with Pacifica's allies, but Farrin found time to begin working on further relations. While the longstanding treaty with IRON fell, Farrin was able to craft a Pacifican sphere of influence around his existing allies. This was not a patron-client relationship, as had often existed in the past, but a mutually beneficial web of alliances encompassing most of Pacifica's allies, the treaties Pacifica holds today.

Almost the entire upper government was reshuffled in the course of the weeks surrounding Farrin's appointment. A series of talented officers- Lord of Darkness, Gumpper, SeasonsofLove, and Qazzian, to name the most enduring- were appointed, and the Order set about growing. Pacifica again passed ten million total strength early in Farrin's reign, and thanks to the continuing prowess of Economic Affairs, the total of one million units of technology was reached for the first time since before the Armageddon War. Amidst several reorganizations of Internal Affairs, the Order stayed tight-knit and internally loyal.

The forces coming to bear against Pacifica were made apparent in early August of 2013 with the signing of a mutual defense treaty between Polaris and the Order of the Paradox. The former had copied Brehon's tactics from the Dave War as the Equilibrium War dragged on, and emerged as a major political power center. The latter had been drawn extremely close to MK and would eventually inherit much of its membership. That two such alliances, with a years-long history of mutual distrust and several spectacular betrayals dividing them, had put aside these differences to antagonize Pacifica was the tell-tale sign: War was coming, and it was coming soon. Nevertheless, Farrin rallied the Pacific and this threat was met with a surge of patriotism.

After months of brazenly searching for an opening to attack Pacifica and its allies, the coalition arrayed against the Order resorted to a tactic harking back to the first falling-out between Pacifica and Polaris. Polaris yet again claimed that Dilber, now an official of the New Sith Order, was seeking to destroy them. Polaris and TOP attacked the New Sith Order, and Pacifica declared war on TOP, but not its wayward sibling Polaris. Polaris did not show the same courtesy, and for the first time, shots were fired between the New Pacific Order and the New Polar Order, leading to our chosen name of the War of the Orders. The war was not as massive as the previous, but it was much longer. The opposing coalition brought overwhelming force to bear against Pacifica and its allies, yet for over three months Pacifica stood resolute.

Eventually, Pacifica accepted some of the harshest terms ever imposed on an alliance. The Order's strongest thirty nations were to remain in peace mode for one hundred days, unable to send aid and unable to grow efficiently. Ten-figure monetary losses were suffered- and yet, by the end of terms, the Order had largely rebuilt itself. It had recovered its prewar standing and was continuing on into success. All treaties had remained intact, showing that Pacifica had chosen its allies extremely well. A generation of sound military policies, Farrin's foreign policies, and the immortal Pacific Bank had come into full synchronization, and Pacifica emerged from its peace terms as the jewel of the Cyberverse.

Letum, former Imperial Officer of Economic Affairs and Internal Affairs, had once led GATO against the Order- a different GATO, against a different Pacifica. The appointment of a former enemy leader as the head of the alliance was not met with the controversy that had heralded the reign of Mary- the Order had shed its posturing. Under Emperor Letum and his Regent, Frawley, the alliance sprang to life. There are more Imperial Counselors than ever before, all active, and Pacifica continues to improve itself- in all departments, the reign of Letum looks to be one of great development for the Order.

Part II: The Details[]

The Beginning[]

Cyber Nations was officially launched on January 6th, 2006. Nations trickled in slowly because there were no promotions anywhere. People who found the game found it randomly, likely through Google. In this era, there was only one significant event, largely because the game had not actually developed into anything significant itself: Depraved and a few others founded the Global Alliance and Treaty Organization It was not a modern alliance in any sense of the word, save that it had a charter and an off-site forum where the main business was to discuss the game. The Imperial Nations Coalition was also founded by Ninja, and the two alliances soon came to war.

Though it was the first war, this was not especially politically important or even a considered a true war by later standards. INC had the number advantage over GATO and pressed it, but was unable to obtain victory and the war ended in stalemate. Eventually peace was declared. However, when it is said that INC had the number advantage, what is meant is that GATO had about 14 members, and INC had 20. When we say they fought to a standstill, it was because that was the only way the game could be fought. There was no tech to steal, infra was not destroyed, there were no tanks or cruise missiles or airplanes, there wasn't even anarchy because governments had not yet been added to the game. The only function of battle was to destroy the opposing nation's soldiers, after which this nation would invariably build new soldiers and destroy the previous attacker's forces. The two sides reached peace because there was no point in continuing. The only reason this war matters is that Admin changed the game as a result, to make it more comprehensive and interesting. It was also the only major war in which the New Pacific Order was not militarily involved in.

Growth of the Game[]

The game started to evolve and gain members at this point. GATO was one of the very few alliances at the time, so most players ended up there. The oldest INC nations joined GATO too, since INC was falling apart. GATO ended up in control and with all of the strongest nations.

More importantly, Admin built the game as we know it now. War became more interesting, since it actually caused the destruction of infrastructure and pillaging of land. Anarchy was possible after the feature of governments was added. Religion too entered the game. Strength was measured, and aspects such as population density, team colors, team senates (totally different from what exists now; a senator received a happiness bonus and could see more stats about other nations), and government positions. Resources became more clear, differentiated, and grew in numbers, so getting trades right became important.

CN was gaining popularity because it had become such a complex game, and it was gaining more and more members. Finally, someone from the then-vastly popular game NationStates found CN and told the NS members about it. The result was the most important migration in Cyber Nations history. While many members joined, most important among them were the founding members of the New Pacific Order.

The New Pacific Order's Origins[]

The Order had been established in NS' most populous region, the Pacific, as a result of the August Revolution in 2003. On August 28th, Emperor Francos Spain led the revolution to take control of the Pacific; his army fought with the power of their convictions, which proved to be the strongest NS had ever seen. After days of conflict, Franco and his army were victorious and declared the New Pacific Order. Even there it was controversial and opposed, but the Order was ever victorious.

The Order's CN Birth[]

On the 24th of January, 2006, Sei created his nation of Narcoleptica in Cyber Nations and began telling his comrades in NS about the game. Within several days a founding core of 10 members had created nations and declared the New Pacific Order as an alliance; Sei, Koona, Karpathos, TrotskysRevenge (Moo-Cows), Vladimir, RedCommunist, Iosef, Lord Valentine, The Mighty Pump, and Blackadder. Members flocked to the Order, both immigrants from NS and native CN players. It grew so fast that GATO recognized its loss of complete dominance and gave up the chief moderation job on the forums to Ivan Moldavi, who had distinguished himself as leader of the NPO. The NPO also claimed the Red Team, becoming the first alliance to claim a team for its own. Ivan's guidance and leadership early on led to his election as Emperor of the Order. The first charter of the NPO was a short and simple one, creating three branches of government; the Emperor, the War Council, and the Alliance Council. The councils were elected each month and had four members each. The War Council held authority over all war matters, and the Alliance Council over domestic matters and Foreign Affairs. Of course, the Emperor had supreme authority and the final say in all matters. This charter was later also used by the New Polar Order (see Second Polar War). The first War Council and Alliance Council were voted in and served for the month of February. This council passed the first Non-Aggression Pact and Mutual Defense Pact, both with GATO, called the Dove Doctrine and Unity Covenant respectively.

The First Polar War[]

The National Alliance of Arctic Countries was a native CN alliance and had been around since just after the GATO-INC War. Though GATO recognized the amazing growth and subsequent dominance of the Order, the NAAC was jealous of the power NPO had so quickly achieved. NAAC members flamed and insulted the NPO on the public boards, taking every opportunity to poke at the Order. After about a week of enduring the taunts of the NAAC, the NPO declared war. It was over within hours, though officially it lasted much longer. Ivan Moldavi and the first War Council had built the most efficient war machine the world had seen, and their coordinated efforts means NPO soldiers out-maneuvered and out-fought their NAAC counterparts. In the now-famous Midnight Blitz tactic, NPO soldiers declared war on NAAC nations just before update, getting in two attacks for the first day and then two attacks for the following day just after update. This technique of quad-attacking the enemy was unexpected at the time and remains the most effective way to destroy a nation. The NAAC was entirely unprepared and most of their nations were sent into anarchy before anybody even knew what hit them. The war dragged on for four more days, but the results were obvious; the NPO had proved itself to be the dominant force of the Cyberverse. Peace was found and the terms were lenient, though the NAAC had to accept a Viceroy to help them move their alliance forward. This generous term gave the NAAC a chance to prosper in the world. The Viceroy was Tygaland.

The Citrus War[]

See also: Citrus War

February had not even ended when a second threat reared its head; the Orange Defense Network. The ODN was another group that had migrated from Nation States. Called the Alliance Defense Network there, the group adamantly opposed the NPO and fought them at every turn. This animosity carried over into CyberNations, though the NPO held no such contempt for the ODN. However, trolls and agitators within the ODN ranks, namely the leader Generalissimo, founding member Automagfreek, and newcomers theblitz and Prodigal_Chieftain, created contempt. When Automagfreek left the ODN, the NPO roughed him up a bit for his words, and the ODN did not take this lightly. Relations were further harmed when the NPO learned from Military Intelligence agent Seattle that the ODN had planted a spy within the Order and was planning to attack soon. The Pacific began gearing up for war. Prominent ODN member KD started the war early, however, and took matters into his own hands by launching a nuclear missile at NPO founder Sei. The NPO responded with another midnight blitz, and ODN nations all over the globe were pounded into anarchy.

It should be noted that at this time, a revolutionary new aspect of the game was added; foreign aid. Nations could now send and receive money, soldiers, and technology from others. ODN, though clearly wounded and staggering, sent many of their nations into peace mode and exploited the new feature. While the upper echelons of leadership hid in peace mode, they sent aid to their weary soldiers in the front who were defeated time and time again. In light of their leaders' cowardice, even agitators such as theblitz and P_C quit ODN, and the two founded the Grand Global Alliance from the ashes of many ODN nations. The war dragged on for over a month, though, becoming the longest war in CyberNations history to that point, a record it long kept.

The war ended in April, and the price for peace was fitting for the losses caused. All ODN nations, both current and for some months afterward, swore an oath to not take up arms against the Emperor and the Order unto perpetuity. This oath was required for ODN members up until just before the Great Patriotic War.

Uneasy Peace[]

The first Pax Pacifica was ushered in with the end of the Citrus War, and the longest era of peace to that time began. The New Pacific Order led this peace and created an environment in which, for the first time, nations and alliances were truly able to grow and prosper. Alliances had largely been defense-based, with very little attention paid to recruitment, banking, and other internal processes. The Pax Pacifica changed this. Without war to worry about, alliances focused on their internal systems. The Order led in these fields too, growing quickly with many new recruits, most found through the now-exploited private messaging system. Pacifica created the most efficient banking system in the game and helped to raise the average strength of its members.

The one notable break in peace was the ICSN War. The International Coalition of Socialist Nations was a small but growing communist alliance, the first of its kind. It too had maligned the Order repeatedly, but all insults were shrugged off due to the puny size of the ICSN. Matters grew serious when an ICSN spy was found within Pacifica's ranks. The NPO declared war, and the ICSN was soon destroyed as its members were sent into anarchy and fled the alliance. Notable, however, is that the ICSN war was the only war in which LUEnited Nations and NPO were on the same side. LUE too found an ICSN spy among their ranks and joined the Order in declaring war on the fledgling communists.

As Pacifican power grew, however, alliances entered somewhat of an arms race to rival the Order. GATO, Legion, ODN, and NAAC were the forerunners and tried their best to match the strength of the Pacific, but none prevailed. Though they did not best the Order, the gap between the few strongest powers and the mob of small alliances steadily grew. The smallest of the large powers, ODN, had no wish to fall behind the NPO and others, and began to look for allies. They found them in the recently arrived LUEnited Nations (LUE), an invasion alliance from the Life, the Universe, and Everything section of the infamous GameFAQs.com boards. The two signed a Mutual Defense Pact called United For Orange, or UFO. The UFO pact boosted the standing of the ODN in the Cyberverse, as well as drawing LUE into an anti-NPO stance with their allies.

The NPO continued to grow and outclass other alliances, and a jealous coalition built up against them. Led by the ODN and LUE, the Independence Council was formed- a Mutual Defense Alliance which also included two other alliances, the Grand Global Alliance and the United Civilized States. The GGA was still led by Prodigal_Chieftain, so their anti-NPO stance was evident. Andaras, a famous flamer and troll who vehemently vocalized his hatred of the Order at every opportunity, ironically led the UCS. Though they did not declare their intent to take down the Order, their purpose was obvious. They invited all alliances to join to keep up appearances. The NPO was not fooled.

The NPO went to its allies in GATO and friends in the Legion, as well as NAAC (still under Pacifican protection from the First Polar War) to form a bloc that would counter the growing hate of the Independence Council. A MDA called the Entente Cordiale was proposed. In a series of late-night meetings, leaders from the four alliances drew up the treaty (the original Pacifican chronicler, Vercingetorix, had the honour of writing the first draft as GATO Deputy Minister of Defense, though by the end of rewriting it was primarily Ivan Moldavi's creation). The Legion pulled out because their members voted down the treaty. In GATO the members passed the treaty, but veto-holder Jormungand vetoed the treaty. When confronted about the reasons for the refusal, Chris_Kaos, Minister of Defense for GATO, refused to give a reason for the cancellation and declared the talks over, withdrawing GATO from any future considerations of the Entente. Hearing of the lack of support, NAAC too withdrew from the treaty. Its allies betrayed the NPO for the first, but not the last, time.

The response was a diplomatic one; the NPO joined the Independence Council. Since the Council had invited all alliances so as to deepen their support and to hide their true intentions, the NPO had actually been invited. They did not expect the Order to take them up on the offer. The coalition no longer could attack the NPO because of non-aggression clauses within the charter of the Council, and thus it's purpose faded. The Council soon fell apart. Meanwhile, the Legion reconsidered its previous stance and signed a Non-Aggression Pact and a Mutual Defense Pact with the NPO individually.

A notable change in the game during this time was the implementation of alliance-specific masks on the main CN boards. As noted before, a small group of alliances distinguished themselves from the rest and gained immense power. These alliances were recognized by having all their members on the CN boards receive a mask specific to their alliance, showing them as a member and coloring their name. The 6 alliances to receive masks were the NPO, Legion, GATO, NAAC, ODN, and GGA.

The Second Polar War, Part I[]

See also: Second Polar War

Though little came of the attempts to usurp Pacifican dominance, anti-NPO sentiment spread throughout the Cyberverse. NAAC became a haven for members who desired the downfall of the Order. Most prominently, theblitz joined the NAAC and built up a base of support that consistently pushed the democratic alliance into a stance against the NPO. Minister Arctic, voted into power by this unruly power bloc, was wary of the Order and placed a spy within its ranks to learn NPO secrets as well as gain a warning in case of an impending war. The NPO found out quickly, expelled the spy, and held the NAAC accountable.

Diplomatic measures were taken for several days. The NAAC refused to take the blame since they claimed that their leaders did not inform the populace of said spying, and thus the alliance as a whole was not responsible. The spy was removed from the alliance and Minister Arctic was reprimanded, but not removed from power. Seeing that no suitable response was coming, the NPO declared war.

In another midnight blitz, the NAAC was devastated early on. After the NAAC had already been largely destroyed, the Legion and GATO attempted to atone for their previous treachery during the Entente scandal and joined the war. NAAC was now fighting against over four times its numbers. Some members, disliking the power of the fanatically anti-NPO bloc, quit the alliance early on. Others quit just to save their nations. Whatever the case, NAAC power faded quickly when confronted with the force of three other major powers.

Many alliances tried to recruit the ex-NAAC members to boost their own strength; GATO set up a blue quadrant to allow entrance to their alliance, and LUE created bLUE as a retreat for members. These did not grow beyond a few members though. bLUE failed because all of the anti-NPO members stayed to continue the fight against the NPO and did not desire peace. GATO failed because the NPO presented a better alternative; the New Polar Order, or NpO.

The New Polar Order[]

The New Polar Order was founded to provide a stable and independent alliance for the blue team and NAAC refugees. Unlike GATO and bLUE, which were subordinate to their respective founders, the New Polar Order was to be independent of the NPO. Several NPO members quit the Pacific and joined the Polar to help with the creation, and for a time Ivan Moldavi was Emperor over both. His position was such to help create the New Polar Order and establish a stable team, which was accomplished quickly. Tygaland succeeded him as Emperor of the NpO once Ivan decided that the alliance was ready to stand on its own.

Seeking the opportunity to join an independent alliance and the opportunity of a stable and well-written government, many flocked to the NpO. Pius XIII and Assington were some of the most notable members to leave for the NpO, and they later helped to govern and lead the young New Polar Order.

It was in this climate that GATO elections put a young and inept moralist into the leadership: Vercingetorix (who originally wrote this history). His first act as leader of GATO was to publicly and crudely denounce the NPO for creating the NpO. He attacked it as a puppet alliance and threat to the world order. In essence, he sold the friendship of the NPO for that of LUE and ODN. GATO declared a cease-fire (they never actually have declared peace, though NAAC has since disbanded) and stopped attacking the NAAC. The NPO responded by putting their long-standing pacts with GATO, the Unity Covenant and the Dove Doctrine, on suspension.

The Second Polar War, Part II[]

The fight dwindled down to just a small number of devoted fighters even before the NpO had been created. Represented primarily on the forums by theblitz, the small faction promised eternal war on the Order. Their hope was to be destroyed almost entirely as a group, then gang up on all NPO recruits, cutting off recruitment to the Order. This tactic failed miserably when enacted because of the ability of the larger NPO nations to send large aid packets to the new recruits, giving them the troops needed to fight as well as putting them out of the reach of the NAAC belligerents.

Major reasons for the even quicker success of the NPO and destruction of the NAAC this time were two new weapons: tanks and cruise missiles. Tanks gave a massive offensive and defensive boost to nations who were able to afford them. The NPO devised tactics to use tanks more efficiently and recognized their importance faster, leading to destruction of NAAC forces. Cruise missiles, on the other hand, gave the NPO the ability to take out infrastructure faster than before. Normally, nations in anarchy were generally safe and could only be taken down slowly, but with the advent of cruise missiles, infrastructure could be destroyed quickly even when in anarchy. NPO nations filled every possible war slot of NAAC nations and bombarded them with missiles, destroying infrastructure and the possibility of paying bills or supporting an army.

In the end, the NAAC did not fight eternal war against the NPO, and the remaining group of nations capitulated to the NPO. The peace had no terms; the near-total destruction of the NAAC during the war was enough punishment for the spy fiasco. The aftermath was that the NAAC had lost its superpower status and had become a small alliance. This alliance was staffed entirely by members devoted to the destruction of the NPO since only the fanatics had stayed in the alliance during the war. It also established the NpO as a major power itself. Blinded by hate, many continued to see the Polars as nothing but an extension of the Pacific, and anti-NPO sentiment grew.

At the end of the war, the moderation team on the CN boards declared an alliance audit and subsequent reevaluation of the alliance masks. They found that the NAAC had become a shade of it's former self and that it no longer could be considered a major power. Their mask was thus removed. In searching for the strongest non-masked alliance to replace the NAAC, the moderation team found that the NpO had become the 6th strongest alliance. They were awarded the mask after only several weeks of existence. This caused uproar on the boards and many anti-NPO agitators claimed that the moderators were biased towards the NPO, a claim still repeated today.

Peace Continued[]

All through June peace reigned, though there was certainly tension. The world grew ever more jealous of the Pacific and allies moved slowly away from the Order. GATO, who had helped fight the NAAC, was taken over by anti-NPO extremists Chris_Kaos and Grenval, who did not bother to restore relations with the NPO. The Unity Covenant was cancelled due to the overall decline in relations, though the specific trigger was GARO, the Global Alliance and Red Organization. It was a post by Grenval that was meant to be a joke, parodying the creation of the New Polar Order. The level of malice was high though, and nobody in GATO would make Grenval apologize.

More importantly, the month's break from war pushed an untold number of nations over the threshold to nuclear power. While nukes had still been relatively exclusive in the Second Polar War, it was becoming obvious that the next war would include hundreds of nuclear missiles. To battle this growing threat, admin decreased the destructive power of the weapons. Being on the receiving end of a nuke before this meant that one's nation was essentially destroyed; months of work were blown away. The new nukes were far less powerful. In addition, environment and the Global Radiation Level feature were introduced. Environment was an overall boost to a nation, increasing happiness, income, and population, giving technologically advanced nations even more power, as well as putting emphasis on previously unused resources. The GRL attempted to curb the use of nukes by assessing a penalty on all nations for the use of nukes. For every nuke used, the environment would decrease a certain percentage for all nations. This, however, did absolutely nothing to stop the usage of nukes.

The Great Patriotic War Part I, Beginning[]

{see also|Great War I}} The tensions that precipitated the start of the Great Patriotic War began on July 11th, 2006. LUEnited Nations leaders publicly accused the NPO Regent, Vladimir, of being a handler of a spy in LUE. Before the Order had a chance to tell their side of the story, LUEnited Nations decided it would be best to dissolve the non-aggression pact between the two respective alliances. Hours passed as the two sides debated the issue. Finally, Vladimir stated he had been approached by a random player offering to spy on LUE for him and that he accepted the offer with the intention of alerting LUE. Vladimir then apologized for forgetting to warn LUE of a possible spy in their midst. After that, matters quieted down for the next few days. The relative peace lasted until the evening of July 15th, when LUE co-leader Yaridovich posted a story in the Open World Forum containing a number of graphic stories, including a fictional account of the rape and mutilation of Empress Rysonia of the International Green Coalition and a large and inappropriate image, for which he was swiftly banned.

Outrage was expressed from all corners of the Cyberverse, except within LUE. In the IRC rooms of the alliance, laughter and applause rang through the halls as members of LUEnited Nations expressed their delight in the post. They all found humour in the rape story, which prompted a swift but unimpressive apology from the remaining leaders of LUE. With this, the leaders of the Orders met with the heads of ODN, the Legion, and GATO to determine the best way to handle the situation and the future of LUE. Throughout the course of the chat, the only viable solution to the problem itself appeared to be for the ODN and GATO to dissolve their defense pacts with LUE and watch the world wage war on them for support of the Yaridovich thread.

However, Tygaland, Emperor of the New Polar Order, did not have the same patience as everyone else. Putting his foot down, he launched a nuclear assault on one of the main supporters of the thread. This was seen by most LUEsers as a de facto declaration of war by both Orders, although the Pacific had made no such declaration. Anomaly, co-leader of LUEnited Nations took it upon himself to respond in kind against an innocent NPO member. Over the next fifteen minutes, members of the Orders exchanged nuclear blows with the LUEnited Nations until Emperor Moldavi formally declared war on LN. The Pacific/Polar vs. LUEnited Nations war itself lasted for a very short time. Yoda, Assembly Chairwoman of GATO openly declared war on the Orders in defense of LUEnited Nations as per the terms of the GATO-LUE mutual defense pact- but in violation of the Dove Doctrine, the GATO-NPO non-aggression pact. Shortly after GATO's entrance, the IGC, in defense of their Empress's honour, declared war on LUE, and by extension, GATO.

The war was now in full swing. Days went by as the newly styled 'CoaLUEtion' grew in size and strength. Alliances such as the Coalition of Green States, NAAC and GGA, and a plethora of politically irrelevant, miniscule alliances declared support for LUE and began assaults on the Orders. At this point the New Pacific Order's only remaining mutual defense partner, The Legion, had refused to assist the Order against those uninvolved groups and declared neutrality. One of the more controversial declarations of war was that of the ODN. As per the surrender terms of the long-over Citrus War, all members of the orange alliance had sworn an oath to Emperor Moldavi swearing to never raise arms against him again. This Oath had been intended to stand above all. Their now-activated MDP with LUE was a way to exact revenge on the Order, in the eyes of the ODN. Their decision was made and they waged nuclear war against the NPO, in violation of their Oath. On July 18th the IGC's will to fight had withered away and they settled a separate peace accord with the CoaLUEtion, leaving the Orders stranded by themselves against the entire planet.

Despite being outnumbered heavily, with most of the world in arms against them, the two Orders stood resolutely. Unlike the hastily formed CoaLUEtion, the Orders worked together, coordinated attacks to cause maximum damage, and utilized aid waterfalls from bank nations. No alliance in the CoaLUEtion had any such waterfall or military coordination, much less the CoaLUEtion itself.

The Great Patriotic War Part II, The Coven[]

July 22nd was one of the most eventful days during the war. Kicking it off was the expulsion of NPO Alliance Councilor Nosedondekistan for his involvement in the secret organization 'The Coven of the Lost', a small group consisting of high ranking members in various alliances whose goal was to manipulate situations in the Cyberverse for their own amusement. Other members included AC Yoda of GATO and EvilCartyen, Director of Intelligence of the Legion. The second major event of the 22nd was the first ceasefire and peace talks between the Orders and the CoaLUEtion. GATO was in a state of chaos due to the betrayal of their leader and called the ceasefire in order to sort their government out. The rest of the CoaLUEtion engaged in peace talks with the Orders, led by the LUEnited nations. They demanded over forty million dollars in reparations from the Orders, but Emperor Moldavi refused to pay them for anything. With this refusal the war raged on.

The most important fallout initiated by the Coven originated from the traitor Nosedondekistan. In a final attempt to manipulate the Cyberverse, by cherry picking logs from the NPO's private channel regarding a few high-ranking members vented their frustration at the Legion's refusal to honour their treaty, the Coven produced what appeared to be evidence of an impending NPO attack on the Legion and sent it off to Legion officials. The Coven managed to have the NPO's only remaining ally declare war on them. The Legion declared war on the NPO, breaking both the Proletariat Pact and the Imperial Accords. The Legion never contacted the NPO about these allegations, instead preferring to believe the traitor Nosedondekistan, whose declared purpose was to manipulate the Cyberverse. The NPO proved there was no such plan, but war had already been declared.

The Legion's influx of power into the opposing side finally broke the deadlock. The NPO had held its own against far superior numbers until this point, but the added strength of the Legion tipped the scales.

The Legion's entry into the battle managed to make the Order lose its spot as the number one alliance and cause a number of surrenders from individual nations. After the initial sneak attack, a ceasefire was called and the Orders went to the peace tables with Legion and the ODN. Emperor Moldavi apologized to the Legion for the IRC conversations that took place. He also apologized to the ODN for the Oath they had to swear at the end of the Citrus War. The two alliances also asked for the resignation of Tygaland as Emperor of the New Polar Order. This was complied with and Tyga stepped down, naming Electron Sponge as his successor. With this, the ODN and Legion announced peace with the Orders after only a day of fighting.

The name "Great Patriotic War" came from this time as resignations from the Order became common. While its enemies saw it as a victory, the Order knew that it was purifying itself through the crucible of war; the weak and cowardly were cast off, leaving only the devoted and true, the patriots.

The Great Patriotic War Part III, The End[]

With the withdrawal of two major forces from Pacifican isles, the war was once again on a level playing field. There was much left to be done, though. The fighting remained fierce against the remnants of the CoaLUEtion and bombs were still being dropped. The coming days would be filled with confusion as temporary ceasefires were issued and retracted almost daily. Leaders of the CoaLUEtion, angered with the ODN/Legion withdrawal, began to manipulate ceasefire time spans to launch sneak attacks on the Orders. Peace was reached in time, however, with only two stipulations.

First, Electron Sponge had to apologize for the war on behalf of the New Polar Order. The LUE demanded that the apology be run by them before being published, just to make sure it was acceptable. After around 5 drafts, each refused, Electron Sponge finally had his apology cleared by the CoaLUEtion.

Second, Ivan Moldavi had to post a public apology to the LUE and their allies for the war. He proceeded to apologize for the New Pacific Order's continued success since the jealousy of that strength had caused the war. The CoaLUEtion accepted it.

Besides these apologies, no other terms were given to the Order. On the first of August, the war officially came to a close. The CoaLUEtion celebrated and claimed victory, while the Orders rebuilt.

One of the most amazing aspects of the war was the sheer number (for the era) of nuclear missiles launched. Tygaland was the first to launch a nuclear device, soon followed by various LUE nations. The first NPO nuke was launched by Anthony, who fired it a mere 6 seconds after the official declaration of war from the Pacific. The Global Radiation Level was at the cap of 3 stars off from each nation for over three weeks after the war, though without the cap, it should have been a 5.88 star reduction. This means that at least 294 nuclear weapons were launched during the war.

Era of Mutual Defense Pacts[]

Most in the CoaLUEtion saw the Great Patriotic War as a complete victory for their side, despite the numbers proving otherwise. They still feared the NPO, however, even more so than before, because they assumed the Order would be out for revenge. They looked to their wartime allies to create what was known as the Web; a series of Mutual Defense Pacts between a group of alliances that cemented all of them together. GATO, NAAC, and LUE led the bloc, with the Coalition of Dark States and League Of Small Superpowers being brought in as well. ODN, the Legion, and GGA participated too, but not to the same extent as the five main spinners, as they came to be known. This web of pacts ensured that if any single one of them were attacked, at least 6 other alliances would be drawn into the fight immediately.

The fear that held these alliances together was strengthened by the rapid recovery of the Order. Once the war ended, the NPO had fallen to third in overall strength and most considered it no longer a threat. By the end of August, the Order had regained the top spot, utilizing aid trees and superior organization. Not only was Pacifica again number one, it was even stronger than before the war.

Most significantly, on September 30th, Ivan Kalinsky Moldavi stepped down as Emperor of the New Pacific Order after 9 months of being the most influential player in the Cyberverse. Just previously there had been a shuffle inside the Imperial Ranks, with Dilber replacing Vladimir as Regent and successor to the Emperorship. Dilber became the second Emperor of the NPO.

Coalition Building[]

Dilber was convinced that the draw in the Great Patriotic War was caused by a lack of faithful allies, especially GATO and the Legion. Had either entered the war on the side of the NPO, as they should have, the war would certainly have ended quite differently. It was obvious that new allies were needed, ones that the Order could actually trust.

Rather than allying with the already-established powers who had fought against the Orders, Dilber led the NPO into finding new and rising alliances to befriend. The Great Patriotic War had led many to desert their alliances, so many new alliances were formed. The War also distracted most alliances from foreign politics, so several groups from other sites had entered the game unnoticed. The NPO pursued alliances in various positions.

The benefit of allying with young alliances was that a bond of friendship stronger than of the former MDPs was established. The NPO aided the small alliance to bring up its strength, coached them on military affairs, introduced them to world politics, and gave them a head start in managing their internal affairs. The alliances receiving such treatment grew and prospered while forming an affinity for the Order. Such alliances were the Goon Order Of Neutral Shoving, an alliance from the SomethingAwful boards, the Federation of Armed Nations, from a gun-lovers forum, the Viridian Entente, established by Egore, and what would later be called Nordreich, a German nationalist alliance founded by former NPO members. All of these signed Mutual Defense Pacts, and the GOONS signed the historic "Let's Be Drinking Buddies" pact, which was a Mutual Aggression and Defense Pact between NPO, NpO, and GOONS.

Another notable pact was the Round Table Accords, signed with the Grand Global Alliance. While the GGA had fought with the CoaLUEtion and was previously led by anti-NPO firebrand Prodigal_Chieftain, this changed in September. The members of the GGA had finally tired of being ruled by such an incompetent and hateful leader, so they staged a coup and took him out of power. While P_C did not go down easily, every move cost him more. He called the popular new government traitors and tried to form another GGA, promising eternal war on the usurpers. He was eventually banned for foul language and harassing other members, though it was not needed, as his power had been broken. The GGA, now without a bigot at the helm, became very friendly with the NPO. After time, the two trusted each other enough to sign an MDP; the Round Table Accords.

These treaties would later form the backbone of the World Unity Treaty, or Initiative.

CoaLUEtion Idiocy[]

After the Great Patriotic War, the former CoaLUEtion did more than just stagnate; it made itself look stupid.

The first series of events was the rogue alliance led by Good King Chinaman, or GKC, a former LUE leader whose hate of the NPO caused him to go rogue. He thought that the Orders got off too leniently and that they should have been crippled permanently. Still hoping to do so, he arranged a group of nations to attack the Orders from time to time. While very little damage was done, many alliances cheered him on.

Occurring at largely the same time was the NpO recognition scandal. While the New Polar Order was not initially recognized by GATO, they had established relations and were on fairly good terms. Despite the precedent, Grenval, then the Minister of Foreign Affairs, asserted that GATO still did not recognize the NpO. For the following week, panic and confusion reigned. Assembly Chairman Letum and Grenval resigned and were replaced by leaders who did not solve the problem. Those leaders then resigned and Letum was returned to power. Eventually, the NpO ordered an official response within 24 hours. GATO did not follow through, so Electron Sponge severed diplomatic relations with GATO and declared that they no longer recognized the alliance, instead calling it a puppet state of LUE. NPO and GOONS also withdrew diplomatic ties. In the end Letum, posted that the New Polar Order was politically but not militarily sovereign from the New Pacific Order.

Later came the Cyber Nations Anti-Rogue Force, led by the future GATO Minister of Defense Walford, aka Pauline. The idea, officially, was to assemble an inter-alliance team of nations that would further peace by declaring war on rogue nations. What it meant in practice was that members of CNARF could declare war on other nations for the purpose of capturing technology, as long as the attacked nation had attacked anybody else in its past. In addition, GATO supported this exploitation of neutral nations by defending and aiding any CNARF members who found themselves outmatched by their targets. The Legion had tried something similar, but backed off due to international pressure. CNARF was similarly pressured out of existence, but it took far longer and further marred GATO's reputation.

After the Initiative and League had been formed (addressed below), New Reverie and LoSS initiated the last scandal. New Reverie entered the Red Team, the domain of the New Pacific Order, and tried to run for a senate seat. Looking for the power to sanction leading NPO nations, he sent out hundreds of messages to Red team nations asking for their votes, citing the need to destroy the Order. He was unsuccessful, but the Pacific took notice of his feeble attempts. They quite reasonably asked LoSS to reprimand their member and recall him from the Red Team. LoSS refused to act and would not take responsibility for its member. The NPO took matters into their own hands and threatened to destroy New Reverie, since if LoSS did not accept responsibility for NR's actions, they could not claim responsibility to defend him if under attack. New Reverie whined and used fear-mongering tactics to gain support, but when the deadline came, he had left the Red Team.

The Initiative[]

The first event that had an impact on the Initiative was the Maroon War, occurring just before the CNARF scandal. The war was between the International Communist Party and a number of Maroon alliances, including Nordreich. The ICP entered the Maroon Team in the hopes of controlling the team, and therefore the forum mask (Admin had declared that each team would get one mask. This policy was never actually implemented). The Maroon team had signed an agreement in the past to defend itself from such action, so the united alliances declared war on the ICP. NPO, NpO, and GOONS entered the war as well, to support their ally Nordreich. The relationship was soured when Nordreich declared an unconditional peace with the ICP once it moved to pink instead. Nordreich had not consulted its allies, who wished to continue the war and obtain a different peace.

The Initiative began with talks between FAN, GOONS, NpO, and NPO, who essentially wanted to add FAN to the Drinking Buddies treaty. As talks progressed, more alliances were invited in for their strong bonds with the four already at the talks. The Viridian Entente, The Order of the Paradox, the Grand Global Alliance, Maroon Defense Coalition, Confederation of Independent States, and [[>_<]] filled out the list of the future Initiative. Many more were considered, but the goal of the Initiative was not to just create a power bloc; it was to create a stable, written bond between a group of friends. Alliances were selected for their relationship with the others as well as for ideological and organizational aims. The results were that the Initiative alliances all knew each other well and were compatible with the aims of all the others. All signed the World Unity Treaty, creating the largest group of alliances the world had ever seen. All were allied underneath a Mutual Aggression and Defense Pact. This bloc became the leading power in the world from its inception, and immediately it sent the former CoaLUEtion into a state of panic.

Fearing the NPO and its new allies, the alliances of the Web looked to form a similar pact to protect them. The League was hastily thrown together as a Mutual Defense Pact between desperate alliances looking to each other only as protection. Though some knew the others well, alliances were brought in simply because they were united by fear of the Initiative. NAAC, GATO, LUE, and ICP were the main powers, accompanied by the League Of Small Superpowers, Global Organization for Liberty and Defense, Coalition of Dark States (formerly Coalition of Green States), and the Allied Coalition of International Defense. The Organization of Imperial Nations and Blue Turtle Alliance were added later, both during the GPWII.

The two power blocs vied for dominance, though the Initiative was clearly stronger. Most in the League considered ODN and Legion as unofficial members since they held Mutual Defense Pacts with many of the League alliances. This turned out to be a poor belief.

The Great War II: The Farklands[]

See also: Holy War of Farkistan

It all started with Nordreich. One of their recruitment videos, hosted on YouTube, used footage of German soldiers as well as the Norwegian national anthem. The government of Norway thought that their Anthem was being used for a Neo-Nazi organization and called on YouTube to remove it. No harm was done, but the issue made news around the Internet and brought great publicity to the game. The site Fark.com caught wind of this, and some of their members joined the game.

The first invasion of Farkers was small and uncoordinated. Expecting more members to come from the 40,000-member-strong Fark boards, LUE agitator Masta Blasta and anti-NPO bigot theblitz attempted to organize the Fark nations into an anti-Initiative force called Farkistan. They promised eternal war on GOONS, since Fark and SomethingAwful had a famous rivalry. The GOONS took this promise into account, looked to their defenses, and decided to quell the hateful alliance before it could grow. They declared war on Fark.

LUE had welcomed Farkistan with open arms and were already trying to recruit the alliance into the ranks of the League. They hoped that more and more Farkers would come and give a strength and numbers advantage to the League. They provided experience and aid in building Farkistan into a meat-shield against the NPO. These plans were interrupted by the GOONS war.

Unveiling a secret MDP that had supposedly been signed with Farkistan before the war broke out, LUE retaliated against GOONS. Backing up their allies, the Pacific and Polar Orders attacked LUE nations already involved with GOONS nations, but did not declare war on the full alliance. GATO and NAAC soon declared war on the entire Initiative, citing their inapplicable Mutual Defense Pact. The rest of the League soon followed. CDS even broke a Mutual Defense Pact with the GGA to pursue war on the rest of the Initiative.

The Great War II: The League's Fall[]

The League hoped for another victory, as they claimed in the Great Patriotic War, and the anti-NPO governments in charge of most League alliances had been looking for an excuse for war for quite some time. Bandwagon alliances like OIN, BTA, and several others declared war as well, in their jealously of Initiative power.

Their plans fell apart quickly. Though the initial attacks caused noticeable damage to GOONS and the Orders, little was done about the remaining Initiative members. When these alliances entered the war, they wrecked havoc upon the League. TOP attacked GATO and almost single-handedly wiped out all of GATO's strongest nations. FAN attacked primarily NAAC targets and obliterated them in their self-titled FANpiles. CIS, >_<, VE, and GGA also fought valiantly, showing the world that no member of the Initiative was to be trifled with.

Nordreich, the Maroon Defense Coalition, and the Illuminati also fought alongside the Initiative due to their long friendship with many Initiative alliances. The Legion barred them from attacking, though, claiming that they were attempting to keep the conflict from escalating, even though they allowed the bandwagon nations to fight for the League. Instead, the friends of the Initiative attacked only the League's bandwagon and tore apart the cowardly alliances.

After five days, LUE resigned from the League and the rest of the League nations surrendered to the victorious Initiative. The only terms were that GATO and NAAC were to publicly accept responsibility for needlessly escalating the war, which they agreed to.

The war on Fark and LUE carried on for much longer. LUE eventually surrendered several weeks later after 90% of their nations had zero infrastructure remaining. The Initiative agreed that LUE had been the root of too may wars in the past and that the best course of action was to keep them from threatening peace again. The terms were designed to keep LUE from rising again in the near future, and the terms were enforced with all precision. LUE attempted to find loopholes in the terms and to secretly disobey them, but the Initiative was ever watchful and held LUE to terms.

The war on Fark dragged on long after the main conflict had ended, with GOONS leading the fight in the interests of their own defense against the single-minded Farkers. The chaos of war led to the creation of a different Fark alliance called TotalFarkistan, which was composed of Fark members who did not wish to be led by LUE puppets. This alliance was widely recognized by the world and especially by the Initiative, eventually becoming the longtime NPO ally The Phoenix Federation.

Notable is the fact that this war was carried out with almost no nuclear missiles launched. The very few Initiative nations who launched nuclear devices were condemned and removed from their alliances. League nations launched almost 10 times as many nukes, even though they too were declared rogues and expelled. Instead, the war was carried out with conventional weapons and aircraft. This war was the first to involve planes, and Initiative alliances used the weapons better than League nations (except some in NAAC, who were surprisingly well-coordinated compared to the rest of the League), resulting in a quicker and more efficient destruction of League nations.

Interwar[]

The peace after the fall of the League was a short one, as the defeated forces moved quickly to solidify their stance against the NPO and its allies. However, the short time between wars was still dominated by several events in the Pacific.

First, Emperor Dilber the Pantsless Thunderbolt resigned from office. Despite quite clearly defeating his enemies in battle, he was unable to defeat the menace of real life. Dilber stepped down and crowned TrotskysRevenge, a.k.a. Moo-Cows, as the new Emperor of the New Pacific Order. Moo had served faithfully as an Imperial Officer and Regent, contributing heavily to the growth of the Order and particularly to the war efforts in the Second Great War. He had been in the Order for many years, reaching back into the realm of NationStates. Original chronicler Vercingetorix described the first three Emperors as such: Ivan was the warrior who brought the NPO to prominence through might and military planning. Dilber was the diplomat who secured the NPO's place through foreign affairs, namely the World Unity Treaty. Moo was the organizer, creating a larger and more efficient bureaucracy and overhauling the Order's day-to-day affairs.

Soon after the Divine Bovine Emperor (Moo) had assumed power, there was a change in the charter sponsored by the Emperor and voted upon by the people. The councils were abolished and replaced by a single Council to oversee all domestic affairs. War powers and Foreign Affairs were placed firmly under the Emperor and his officers' control. Council members also now served two-month terms, with three members being elected each month in a rotating cycle.

The third event was named Pax Pacifica (it should be noted that this term refers to periods of peace and NPO dominance such as this one, in addition to the aid program mentioned herein), and it was the greatest single organized distribution of aid seen in Cyber Nations to that point. All told, the Pacifican Bank distributed 615 million Francos in foreign aid throughout the world. Some stayed within the alliance to build up nations, while the great majority was distributed to Initiative allies in a show of solidarity.

Outside of the NPO, the League officially disbanded, though the entire MDP web of the past remained in place, so very little changed. The opposition forces simply lost their name. Their plotting and hatred for the NPO did not change, either. GATO Assembly Chairman Vincent Xander appeared intelligent and claimed to hope for reconciliation with the NPO, creating some hope for the renewal of relations. However, his true colors were soon revealed, and VX began to plot with the Legion to destroy the Order. Though the Legion refused all of his proposals, logs of these chats leaked out to the public. While there was much debate and conflict about the logs, the point was clear when VX himself had said, "I mean to hurt them [NPO]." While the threat was meaningless, it set the stage for the war to come.

The Retribution (Great War III): The Beginning[]

See also: Third Great War

The war began with a build-up of events rather than with a single trigger. First came VX's foreign affairs botch-up. Second, GATO Congressman Cheyenne falsely informed the Organized Nations Of Superiority that the NPO was plotting to destroy the growing neutral alliance. While ONOS never believed him, and a short chat with the NPO confirmed the lie, it further soured relations between the Pacific and GATO. Finally, a GATO spy was found within the Order's ranks. While diplomacy was attempted, GATO denied any involvement despite overwhelming proof. War was declared.

At first the war was just between GATO, the NPO, and several Initiative allies. GATO's strength began to plummet, as did its member count. It was obvious that they were absolutely no match for the greater power and organization of the Initiative. Though the war was one of retribution for the spying incident, leaders of the Initiative still expected GATO's allies and the remnants of the League to support GATO. In the Initiative forums a contingency plan was built for each of the possible alliances that would fight for GATO. This plan was leaked, and many alliances considered it a plan of aggression. After several days of leaving GATO alone to fall, alliances began to enter on their behalf. The ODN declared war on GOONS, which was entirely uninvolved at the time. Legion declared war on FAN and TOP, who were not only uninvolved, but also held NAPs with the Legion. These treaties were broken so the Legion could enter the war. LUE rejected its surrender terms from the previous war to join in the fight. b, an invading alliance from the infamous boards of the same name, even broke its charter (which promised neutrality) to attack the VE out of jealousy that the VE had just recently beaten them in the race for a mask. While GATO's side broke many treaties to enter the war, no Initiative alliance or other ally broke their pacts to fight in the war. To rally and boost morale, many members of GATO and its allies quoted the recently released movie, "300." While they spouted off overused quotes such as, "Tonight, we dine in hell!" the Initiative responded by agreeing and making sure their nations found their way to hell.

The Retribution: The Flatliners[]

The entire world predicted a close battle between the Initiative and its enemies as they were nearly even in strength and numbers (Initiative held a slight advantage in total strength, but not in numbers). However, the war became one-sided very quickly; any alliance that entered against the Initiative plummeted quickly. GATO continued to lose over 100,000 strength per day, as did ODN, NAAC, /b/, and others. Legion topped them all by bleeding out an astounding average of 500,000 strength every day.

While the opposition searched for a name (CoaLegion and especially Aegis were used by them), the name that stuck was the name they earned from the Initiative; the Flatliners. Many opponents had become so inactive or unable to fight that Initiative members assumed they had given up, and that their nations were dead.

Losing miserably, the Flatliners became desperate. Most declared that the game was over and that the Initiative had won. They foresaw a CN where the Pacific and its allies controlled the world with an iron fist and destroyed all freedom. Some players began to quit the game just because they couldn't win, others left to neutral alliances, and most just became independent. One Legion member held two accounts; one normal account and one account of a deceased friend that Admin had allowed him to keep as a way to remember the departed. This Legion member, however, used the friend's nation to aid Legionnaires at war, then, when the nation was attacked, posted a long, emotional plea on the boards. He called the Initiative monsters for attacking the nation of a deceased player, ignoring the fact that he had been using the nation to fight in the war. It was soon leaked that his plan the whole time was to use the nation to fight, then try to make the Initiative look evil whilst making the emotional plea to save the nation from destruction. This was not even the worst incident though; that occurred when an entire alliance decided that the game was over.

/b/ was promised eternal destruction by VE for their opportunism in declaring war. With Initiative help, VE seemed poised and ready to deliver said eternal destruction to the alliance. Instead of facing their irresponsible actions and attempting to make amends, /b/ instead tried to destroy the entire game. The alliance disbanded and declared that its members would become rogues against the Initiative. But they did not stop there; /b/ members, including their leader, began to spam the Cyber Nations forum with shock images of the sort expected from 4chan. The small staff of moderators online at the time fought to combat the plague, but they were outnumbered by the /b/ vermin. Finally a board admin was found, who promptly closed the boards down.

InvisionFree nearly shut the boards down because of the incident, and the staff kept the forum offline for almost a week to let the community calm down. /b/ was not finished, though. Plotting at their offsite forum, the anonymous members of the board distributed programs to any willing to assist- programs that would suck up all of the bandwidth of the targeted server, in an illegal attack called a Denial of Service. Their target was CN itself. At midnight, when the server was already under pressure, the /b/ members tried to shut CN down. Luckily, alliance leaders caught wind of the attack and ordered all of their alliances' members off the game to keep the server's load as low as possible. It worked, but /b/ refused to simply admit defeat. Failing to overload the server, they stole the source code for CN. Admin shut the game down for the weekend just to be safe. He did not want to deal with further /b/ attacks- his daughter had just been born that day. The war was on pause for several days as the game took a break. The members who attacked CN may be punished with under federal law for their illegal attacks, but as of yet none have been tracked down (to our knowledge).

The Retribution: The End[]

Once the boards and game had returned, many assumed that the war was over. The Flatliner forces were just as disgusted at /b/'s actions as the Initiative was, and many assumed that because their ally had so ignobly departed, the war would be called off. They were wrong, and the war continued. Flatliner strength continued to plummet, and members surrendered in droves. Several times alliances entered hoping to turn the tides of war, such as the Grämlins and Old Guard, which were made of almost entirely high-strength nations. These alliances fell too, and the glimmers of Flatliner hope were snuffed out.

The alliances opposing the Initiative began to look for peace. Initiative leaders asked for suitable reparations as well as the decommission of military forces for several months to ensure the peace. Though most alliances rejected these terms, they started accepting them once they realized that the only other choice was total destruction. ODN, Legion, and GATO all surrendered, as well as a substantial number of the bandwagon alliances.

However, several refused to accept the terms and chose destruction rather than peace. Several small alliances were disbanded and their individual members found peace on their own. LUE also disbanded, finally ending their long history of deceit and war. Some members were sentenced to eternal ZI, while the greater part of the alliance were allowed to go their own ways. The NAAC, after 5 major wars with the NPO, finally fell once and for all, disbanding rather than accept the reasonable terms offered them. Most agree that the only reason they took this road was because of their leader, Protector Almighty Grub, who had an obsession with "300" and last stands. He and his alliance fell without allies, honour, or glory.

Initiative Reshuffle[]

The Initiative did not have long to enjoy its dominance of Cyber Nations. In the aftermath of the war, Nordreich erupted into chaos after an attempted purge of its racist elements failed, leading to the dissolution of the alliance and the formation of a more moderate rump state, Norden Verein, which remained a Pacifican ally but was not readmitted to the Initiative. Almost concurrently, VE decided to part ways with the Initiative and pursue a more independent foreign policy course- one which put it on a collision course with GOONS and GGA. GGA resented VE's new claims to dominance of the Green Team, while GOONS felt threatened after VE attempted to colonize its native Black Team. VE attempted to back down in the face of public pressure while simultaneously attempting to draw WUT signatory and longtime ally CIS to its side. Tensions with VE extended to CIS, and the latter was soon expelled from the World Unity Treaty.

The two alliances continued scheming, and GGA felt its position on the Green Team threatened. In what would later be dubbed the Green Civil War, GGA led the Initiative into war on its recent allies, demanding that VE and CIS leave the Green Team. VE was utterly destroyed and CIS forced to leave the team, despite NPO efforts to resolve the war more reasonably. In the aftermath of this war, two alliances whose primary loyalty lay with GOONS (at the time) were brought into the World Unity Treaty: The Phoenix Federation and [[Gen[m]ay]]. Concurrently, more Polar-loyal MCXA was brought in. The bloc's image was shifting.

Fighting FAN[]

See also: FAN-WUT War

FAN had grown into one of the largest alliances following heavy off-site recruitment. As they had recruited primarily from gun enthusiasts' forums, their membership was very prone to war and was displeased with the lack of opportunity for conflict. After declaring the Yellow Team their personal hunting ground, drawing the ire of raiding alliances such as \m/, which had evolved from >_< and was thus a FAN ally, FAN decided to mark the anniversary of D-Day, June 6th, 2007, with an all-out assault on Norden Verein, then under Pacifican protection. Pacifica forced FAN to back down, but the alliance refused to take the blame for its actions, claiming ignorance.

Events came to a head in mid-June, when most Initiative alliances signed redundant MDPs. FAN, conspicuously excluded from these treaties, was then expelled from the Initiative on June 18th, after which the Initiative declared war. FAN was a widely hated alliance, and numerous uninvolved parties joined the bandwagon against them. Even the scattered remnants of LUE and /b/, not yet coalesced into the Mushroom Kingdom, saw fit to join in the destruction of FAN. The war against FAN dragged on until the end of the Unjust War, when FAN surrendered and accepted terms designed to prevent its former unbridled aggression, leaving only a shell of what had formerly been a powerful and feared alliance. Notable here is that FAN saw the NPO, while not the instigator of any of the events, as its primary enemy. This resentment has lasted almost unabated for the past seven years.

The August Coup and the Beginning of the Unjust War[]

It was in the month of August when Electron Sponge, BlackAdder, and Ivan Moldavi all decided they were displeased with the current state of Pacifican affairs. They began to plot on how to remove Emperor TrotskysRevenge, to force his abdication as Emperor, and to allow Ivan Moldavi to retake the throne. During a midnight discussion between TrotskysRevenge, Electron Sponge, and BlackAdder, Emperor Moo was strong-armed into vacating the throne in favor of Ivan Moldavi. Emperor Revenge was not satisfied with this course of action, and he began to consult with some of the Imperial Officers. They formed a plan of action to take back the throne. Just a few days afterward, Emperor Ivan was removed from power as Moo and his loyal Imperial Officers struck back and banned him for treason. Moo-Cows was Emperor yet again.

Eventually, Moo forgave Ivan and let him return to the Order, with a public apology from Ivan being posted on the Cyber Nations forums. At the same time, Polaris and Pacifica issued a joint statement confirming the Orders' reconciliation. However, this incident created a rift among Initiative leadership which would never be healed. Soon after this incident, tensions skyrocketed within the World Unity Treaty, causing the alliances involved to break into sub-factions. In time, these factions became known as the Unjust Highway (led by GOONS) and ~ (led by the NpO, which had left the WUT shortly after the August Coup). Pacifica was stuck between the two sides, and had conflicting interests.

The Unjust War itself began after Gen[m]ay attacked Polaris' protectorate BoTs. Polaris entered the fray by declaring war on Gen[m]ay. Using this as an opening, GOONS, Golden Sabres, \m/ and other members of the Unjust Path declared war on the New Polar Order. The Grand Global Alliance, IRON, and the BLEU bloc stood up for Polaris. Caught in a fight between friends, the NPO resigned from the World Unity Treaty and canceled individual agreements with GOONS, Gen[m]ay, and Mushroom Kingdom. Pacifica had taken a wise stand: she would remain neutral.

The Unjust War[]

See also: The Unjust War

Unfortunately, this was not to last. As the Unjust War came into full swing, a discovery was made. The yellow alliance GOLD had arranged for a second alliance to send a large amount of aid to FAN, whom the Order was still fighting from a previous conflict. The money was to be used for a counterattack against Pacifica. The NPO considered this an act of war from GOLD. Imperial Regent Bakunin's Dream, acting in the Emperor's stead, declared war on GOLD.

This would have just been considered part of the FAN-WUT war, but soon after this initial attack, the Order declared war on the Entente of the Rising Sun for aiding GOLD. Following that second war, it attacked WAPA and Scotland Forever due to treaty obligations, placing Pacifica firmly on the side of ~. Unlike most previous wars, however, Pacifica's mighty military was simply too frightening for its adversaries this time. GOLD was the first to admit defeat, choosing to disband rather than surrender to Pacifica. The rest of the alliances the NPO was at war with took surrender terms, ending the war in that corner rather quickly. While Pacifica's physical impact on the war was small, Pacifica would be greatly impacted by the war. The Unjust War (UJW) brought an end to several large alliances, which indisputably left the NPO the #1 alliance in Cyber Nations. Following the end of the war, the alliances of NPO, NpO, IRON, and GGA united under a new bloc called One Vision.

The Revenge Doctrine and Möbius Accords[]

While the age-old Moldavi Doctrine gave Pacifica control over the Red Team, Emperor Moo decided that Pacifica should take the next step. The Revenge Doctrine was born, which prohibited anyone else from attacking a Red Team nation without NPO approval. As with any such policy, the Revenge Doctrine was soon put to the test. The alliance Devil Dogs attacked a red micro-alliance called 1stMI, and Pacifica offered to protect these nations. Logically, Pacifica declared war on Devil Dogs. Devil Dogs responded with multiple out-of-context attacks on the CN forums, since their military proved ineffectual against the massive and mighty Pacifican war machine. The Order proved to the rest of the world that it would stand up for its principles and enforce the doctrine.

Only four days after the end of the Devil Dogs "Re-education" war, one of the largest blocs in CN history was formed with the signing of the Möbius Accords. 12 alliances representing over 50 million NS decided to come together to form a bloc that would never be defeated as a group. The 'Continuum', as it was called, was a force to be reckoned with for many months.

Fighting FAN (Again) and Green Protection Agency[]

On December 17th, 2007, One Vision and friends attacked FAN for 97 violations of their surrender terms. While the majority of the fighting was over quickly, FAN decided to never surrender, and the FAN-One Vision war became the longest-running war in Cyber Nations history. Instead, many members stayed in peace mode, launching sporadic raids, until the Armageddon War, when they were given peace by the rest of One Vision.

Around February of 2008, the Order geared up for yet another war. For quite some time, the Green Protection Agency, a supposedly neutral alliance, had committed aggressive acts against the NPO and her allies. One of the most notable transgressions was the acceptance of Lord Swampy as a member while he was on the NPO ZI list. The Möbius Accords was enacted for the first time, and the Continuum attacked GPA. GPA was not ready for war, and with steeply plummeting nation strength, the alliance surrendered quickly.

The Wolfpack, GATO Redux, and Golden Sabres[]

In March 2008, a small pink alliance by the name of Wolfpack was discovered to be spying on RoT, IRON, and NPO. Responding quickly, IRON, NPO, and MHA attacked in a midnight blitz. Wolfpack's nations were in anarchy within the first few days of conflict, and Wolfpack was soon granted peace.

For a while Pacifica seemed to find a time of peace, in which Emperor Moo was able to return to his organizational work and create the first Imperial Advisors. It wasn't long before an old enemy showed his face, however. According to the surrender terms for GATO during Great War III, Chris Kaos could never be allowed in GATO again. Disregarding this, he rejoined GATO under an alias. He soon became a Deputy Minister with the government's tacit approval; however, the Order found out and declared war on GATO. While GATO had some allies behind them, Pacifica's allies were able to keep those alliances engaged while the Order took care of GATO, which then surrendered and was given an NPO Viceroy in addition to paying reparations.

In late May, an alliance called the Golden Sabres was found to be helping FAN gain senate seats in order to harm both Pacifica and her allies. This was completely unacceptable to the Order, so war was declared against the small alliance. Golden Sabres issued two apologies; both would be rejected. One of Pacifica's allies, bigwoody of The Order of Righteous Nations (TORN), posted surrender terms for individual Golden Sabre nations on June 5th. By July 1st, there were no nations left on the Golden Sabres Alliance Affiliation. Once again the might of Pacifica and her allies was proven to be supreme.

The Problems of Polaris[]

Around this time, relations with Polaris took a turn for the worse when Electron Sponge reclaimed the throne of the New Polar Order. Sponge had taken part in the August Coup and his image to many Pacificans was not a good one, nor even an acceptable one. As a direct result, Polaris was lawfully removed from the One Vision bloc by the other members (NPO, GGA, IRON). This in turn made Polaris feel that Pacifica was attempting to isolate them diplomatically.

Making things worse, soon after the above events occurred, the NpO accused former Pacifican Emperor Dilber, then serving as council to Moo-Cows, of plotting against them. It was claimed by the NpO and its allies that Dilber and a group of NPO members were spreading propaganda against Polaris. Finally, Electron Sponge and RandomInterrupt (the sitting leadership of Polaris) came to the NPO channel and posted logs revealing personal information about Emperor Moo-Cows. Outrage ensued in the Order at such an obvious lack of respect for Pacifica. This caused the Ordinance of Order, the longest surviving treaty in CN history to that time, to be canceled. Not long after this, Electron Sponge was replaced as the Emperor of Polaris by AlmightyGrub, former Protector of the NAAC. The cancellation of the treaty would even spark criticism inside Pacifica and lead to the departure of some long-serving members of the Order.

Relations with Polaris would go through a long dry spell, which is still felt today. While the future remains uncertain between the two alliances, only time will tell where relations go in the future. During the War of the Coalition, Polaris and Pacifica fought on different sides but both agreed to never fight each other. After the war, through, Polaris and Pacifica made a step forward by signing a mutual defense treaty. Relations were not where they used to be, but they were improving. Unfortunately, the Armageddon War would throw a wrench in this improvement. Polaris decided to cancel the treaty because they felt Pacifica was wrong in its actions leading up to and during the war.

The Black Defense Council was found to have a spy in the ranks of the NPO, and were soon attacked in response. Since they had little in way of allies, they were quickly defeated. Dilber became their Viceroy. In addition, the vengeful CIS harassed the NPO quite frequently (whether through tech raiding against the Red Team or nuking one of the Order's banks) and were destroyed in turn, its members hunted down after they tried to disband to avoid punishment.

The War of the Coalition and Vox Populi's Entrance[]

See also: War of the Coalition

The beginning of the War of the Coalition was the Hyperion-GGA War, which had sprung up because Hyperion aided a re-roll of Chickenzilla, who was on GGA's Perma-ZI list. However, it soon blew up into something much larger when MCXA, TOP, Grämlins, Umbrella, FOK!, RnR, and FARK declared war on NpO, causing the entrance of many alliances on both sides (once again, Pacifica was on the side opposing Polaris). By day three it was obvious that the war was not going well for Polaris' side; it was 1,700 nations versus well over 7,000 nations.

The Order's role in this war was small. Only once the Order's ally TORN was attacked did it join the war against the Mushroom Kingdom. Mushroom Kingdom, which had its roots in LUE, was disliked for obvious reasons. The Mushroom Kingdom called in all of its allies as well, seeking to cause maximum damage to Pacifica. While the Mushroom Kingdom's unlimited nuclear warfare was devastating, it could not defeat the Order and its allies.

Immediately after the war a group of outcasts, vagabonds, and mischievous malcontents calling themselves Vox Populi (or the Voice of the People) started to create trouble, beginning on August 13th, 2008. The group contained a large group of outcast and exiled Pacificans. One of their first attacks on Pacifica came when Vox Populi member kingzog was elected to the Red Senate due to a rigorous spamming campaign. A large sanction war took place between VP and the NPO senators. This exchange of sanctions continued until Kingzog deleted his nation and Vox moved to yellow. Vox also attacked Pacifica through a series of spies and propaganda campaigns. This war would continue right up until the Armageddon War.

Another, smaller, event around this time was the war against Jarheads, which took place from February to May 2009. Jarheads was an alliance made up of former Devil Dogs members. They plotted against Pacifica quite publicly, so Pacifica and its many allies declared war. The war jumped up a notch when Jarheads used online recruitment to fill their alliance with over 150 new members. This war would drag on until the Armageddon War ended, when the new Devil Dogs were given white peace.

During this time, Ivan Moldavi led a large exodus from Pacifica. The Founder of the two existing Orders had decided to start a third- the New Sith Order. Many Pacificans left to join this new alliance, as they had with the New Polar Order. Unlike Polaris, the New Sith Order formed relatively peacefully but without the strong backing of Pacifica. This new Order would eventually develop better relations with the Pacific, which have been intermittent throughout the post-Armageddon era.

The Beginning of the Armageddon War[]

See also: Karma War

In the early months of 2009, tensions across the world started to simmer. There were a large number of treaty signings and cancellations. Some noticeable cancellations with NPO were VE, Rok, Sparta, FOK!, and MA. Some alliances of the Continuum left, such as Gramlins, The Order of Paradox, FOK!, and Sparta. The players were in place. Now it was just a question of how the war would begin.

In the end, the war started with an NPO declaration of war on Ordo Verde for accepting screen shots from NPO's private forum. When negotiations began, OV refused to accept NPO's lenient terms of one round of war, due to VE's urging. NPO and TORN declared war on OV. Following this action, many of NPO's allies (notably including MHA) declared that they wouldn't support Pacifica in the war. With such a simple inaction, a great and momentous war would be waged. Later that day, Archon of the Mushroom Kingdom would post a thread condemning the Order and announcing the creation of the bloc opposed to the NPO, Karma.

As the Order waited the next day for the counterstrike, a grievous surprise occurred. TORN canceled their treaty with the NPO and announced they were getting out of the war because the Order had supposedly gone behind TORN's back by trying to negotiate peace with Karma without TORN's knowledge. This would be the first of many betrayals. There were some talks of peace; the war coalition known as Karma had terms which wanted Pacifica to apologize to OV, admit the Casus Belli was unjust, pay reparations, and demilitarize. The Order was not going to agree to the fourth term. Some argued these terms were specifically designed so they could not be accepted.

The Escalation of the Armageddon War[]

On the night of April 22nd, 2009, the counterstrike came. The alliances of Greenland Republic, Athens, R&R, The International, MOON, Orion, DICE, Vanguard, Avalanche, GUN, Viridian Entente, and Ragnarok declared war on the New Pacific Order. Out of the 12 attacking alliances only three actually had treaties with Ordo Verde. It was a war of aggression plainly meant to destroy the Order. It would soon be become a greatly devastating nuclear war.

Soon after the midnight blitz came shock. A group of then-close friends of Pacifica deserted her. These alliances were the Independent Republic of Orange Nations (IRON), the Multicolored Cross-X Alliance (MCXA), the Old Guard (OG), the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), the Grand Global Alliance (GGA), Valhalla, The Phoenix Federation, and Echelon. All canceled their treaties with the Order, citing the fact that the Order tried to surrender without talking to them first. Later that night, several of the alliances that had originally canceled on Pacifica declared war on Karma, alongside some other allies who never canceled, such as Invicta and SSSW18. This group originally did not intend to enter the war. In the views of many Pacificans, and many non-participants, including FAN, they earned the moniker "Coalition of Cowards." Many believe that their entrance into the war was only due to the bad publicity which would rack their alliances for months to come. While some still prefer to call this group the Coalition of Cowards, the term was later disregarded by some, since as the old adage goes, help is better late than never. The Continuum had collapsed- together, Pacifica and her allies became known as the Hegemony.

The War Ends While Bondage Begins[]

The war was one of epic proportions, with Karma having 93 alliances involved against the Hegemony's 43. The Hegemony was clearly outnumbered. Many Hegemony alliances started to surrender in late April, when it was clear which side was winning. By May 7th, 2009, only 11 alliances remained with the Hegemony. The Global Radiation Level had risen to record highs and the war continued.

During June, Karma came to NPO with their terms of surrender. The NPO would have to pay unbelievable reps and only those nations with 1,000 technology or more could pay certain portions of it all. The NPO at first rejected these terms. They tried to lessen the terms by giving peace to FAN and Devil Dogs and finally canceling the Moldavi Doctrine. Part of the terms also included admitting that the Order had lost the war, the first time the Order had ever suffered defeat.

On July 19th, 2009, the New Pacific Order surrendered to Karma. The terms were by far the worst ever seen in the history of Cyber Nations. They included massive reparations, forced cancellation all of Pacifica's military treaties, and a minimum period of 6 months of bondage. The war sapped the military strength of Pacifica and furthermore placed restrictions on it for the duration of the terms. It changed the very world in which we live. Soon after, another key change would happen in the form of Emperor Revenge stepping down, appointing Cortath in his place.

The Blackbird Emperor[]

But Pacifica went on even in the face of great odds. The Armageddon War may have been devastating for the nations of Pacifica, but the spirit was not dented. In fact, the war and the grave reparations to follow strengthened the order and allowed it to grow and adapt. Pacifica stood up to the world and never knelt down. In these trying times, Emperor Cortath led the Order back to its proper path.

Forced to refrain from significant political activity beyond shoring up old friendships and the creation of a Red Team economic bloc, Red Dawn, Cortath turned to the running of the alliance. The modern Order was built under Cortath- with a few sweeping pieces of legislation, the clutter of government positions established over Emperor Moo's long reign was cut down into a streamlined administration. The Council was drastically weakened, Imperial Officers were given more stable positions, and much of Moo's advisory system was stripped away, with advisors moving to the position of Retired Imperial Officer or resuming activity in government. Even the Regent was given a definite set of tasks and responsibilities. The summer of 2010 saw the Third Charter passed, swiftly followed by the current Charter.

While still under peace terms, Cortath brought the NPO to a diplomatic victory in the Bipolar War, a global conflict in which the Order was not involved. The Global Order of Darkness, which the NPO had officially surrendered to as a result of the Armageddon War, refused to suspend terms out of sheer spite. Cortath publicized this foolish decision, leading to widespread derision for the incompetence of some members of the now-fractured coalition that had been Karma.

Terms ended on May 20th, 2010, with Emperor Cortath declaring a Second Age of Order. Pacifica would no longer be belligerent for the sake of belligerence- it would be shrewdly led and well-maintained. The Order's oldest treaties, those with TPF and NATO, date back to the beginning of this period. These longstanding treaties were soon followed by pacts with Invicta, Olympus, The Legion, and the New Sith Order (the last of which underwent several treaty status changes since). Relations with The Imperial Order also began during this period, which have continued to the present.

The Order avoided the minor wars it had fought under previous Emperors and focused on growth. Its enemies, however, did all they could to provoke it. The New Sith Order was attacked by overwhelming forces and forced to stand alone in defeat following a diplomatic incident with Ragnarok. A force led by the Mushroom Kingdom sought to goad the Order into war by launching raids against the Red Team, violating the Revenge Doctrine. Cortath refused to respond with warfare and the raiders' short attention spans soon resolved the incident. These affronts to Pacifica's sovereignty were suffered with grace- and patience. While still weakened and isolated, defending the honor of the Order would have to be put aside for brighter times. These times did not come during Cortath's reign- Pacifica's enemies were out for blood.

The Doomhouse War[]

See also: Doom House-NPO War

On January 17th, 2011, the bloc Pandora’s Box declared war on the New Polar Order on allegations of spying. Polar’s allies soon joined the fray and the war turned global. The war was one of the most evenly matched in years, as traditional ‘enemy’ alliances such as Ragnarok and GATO fought for Polar’s side, whilst alliances such as RIA fought on both sides. Duckroll, a large bloc including IRON and Valhalla, stayed neutral.

On January 24th, the bloc Doomhouse and FAN declared war on the New Pacific Order, which had not even entered the war, without any proper casus belli. Doomhouse consisted of the forces of the Mushroom Kingdom, Umbrella and the reformed GOONS. Archon, leader of the Mushroom Kingdom, cited the necessity to prevent the New Pacific Order from reaching further strength, when it was the #2 alliance in the game in terms of score. Undoubtedly, Doomhouse traded political capital for a marginal military advantage. After all, neither the New Pacific Order nor her allies could militarily face the upper tier of Umbrella, preemptive strike or not.

The war dragged on for four months. The New Pacific Order’s allies such as The Legion and Invicta focused on hitting the low-tier GOONS alliance with great effect, necessitating vast recruitment and billions in aid from Umbrella to keep the alliance afloat. At one point in the war, half of all GOONS nations were younger than the war itself. However, the focus on the lower tier meant that the upper tier had to be in peace mode to prevent retaliation from tech-heavy Umbrella nations.

The use of peace mode in the upper tier became a sticking point in negotiations. The war with Doomhouse, FAN, and late entry Nordreich continued even after the New Polar Order and her allies received peace in March. The protracted conflict saw the entrance of The Order of the Paradox, recently allied with MK, and the Complaints and Grievances bloc. The New Pacific Order also issued statements offering an apology to FAN for the protracted two-year war and announcing the succession of Mary the Fantabulous to the Emperor's throne after her predecessor, Cortath, retired due to real life.

Negotiations ended with more than $2 billion in reps to be paid by the allies of Pacifica (though not Pacifica herself), and the requirement of 1.8 million NS worth of nations in peace mode to be released from the upper tier of the New Pacific Order to fight a 21 day ‘limited war’. This ‘limited war’ ended on May 28th, 2011. Though a military defeat, Pacifica and her allies gained much political capital and new routes through the Doomhouse war leading to an overall strategic victory, even if an unplanned one. The consequences were much less dire than the Armageddon War, as Pacifica maintained a sanction and had no imposing terms such as those that accompanied the Armageddon War.

The Dragon Emperor[]

Mary the Fantabulous was appointed the Fifth Emperor of the New Pacific Order on March 30, 2011, after spending some time as acting Emperor while Cortath was unavailable. Mary was one of the most controversial figures in Cyber Nations history. Once belonging to the Green Protection Agency, she was considered the “peacekeeper” of the Green Team during the Green Civil War and served two months as President of GPA. On September 13th, 2006, Mary joined the New Pacific Order, which caused much commotion among the CN community. Harassed for her choice at the time, Mary decided to lay low and wait until the commotion died down.

In her time in the Order, Mary was heavy influenced by two people, Dilber and TrotskysRevenge, better known as Moo. Dilber helped convince her to join the Order when she decided to leave the GPA. Though she was on the Green Team, Dilber allowed her to join regardless, and she has remained on Green ever since. During Dilber's reign she served on the War Council, and she slowly worked her way up the chain of command. It was under the leadership of Moo that she truly found her form, however. During the Moldavi Rebellion in August 2007, she was a major supporter of Moo's claim to the throne and supported Moo fiercely in taking the throne and the Order back.

On May 1st, 2009, then-Emperor TrotskysRevenge appointed Mary as Imperial Regent, replacing Bakunin's Dream, who had served since early 2007. During her time as Regent she gained much experience, though she found herself involved in more foreign affairs work then she was used to. After being appointed as Emperor on September 29th, 2009, Cortath chose to retain Mary as Regent for his reign and reappointed her to the position on October 8th, 2009. As Regent, she advised the Emperor and served as leader when the Emperor was not available. She oversaw some of the internal operations of the Order to give Cortath space to handle other issues, as well as administrative work and spending time answering questions for members of the Body Republic.

One of Mary's first acts as Emperor, the war notwithstanding, was to appoint Brehon as her Regent, a post he would hold for the duration of her reign. As the war drew to a close, there was substantial retirement among the Imperial Officers left over from the reign of Cortath. Mary took advantage of this loss of top government in order to further modernize the structure of the Order.

Several months of peace followed the Doomhouse War, during which time the Order continued its policy of avoiding conflicts with small alliances. Pacifica rapidly recovered to its pre-war strength and continued growing. While the ancient hate for Pacifica still lingered, the Order had been involved in the previous two major wars in only a limited role and with the undisputed moral high ground, so the Order was largely ignored by the belligerents of the era- TOP, MK, NpO, and their respective spheres of influence (though MK's enmity for the Order remained, if in the background). It was time to build bridges while the rest of the world burned theirs.

Pacifica canceled its treaty with the Legion under Mary, and a spate of new treaties followed. Most notable among these is our current treaty with TIO, the Rise of the New Imperial Order Accords. Relations with The Last Remnants, which continue to this day, began under Mary, as did relations with GATO, marking a clear direction in the foreign affairs of the Order. This was a major shift from its previous relations, and GATO had been a frequent enemy over the preceding five years, as had the predecessors of TLR. Under Mary, the current practice of alliances based on goals rather than on dependence on Pacifica for survival or growth (as had led to the Initiative) was put into full effect, and this practice has borne many strong relationships. During this period, Pacifica also signed protectorate treaties with Solitude and Oceania.

The era of peace was ended with the beginning of the Grudge War. TOP and IRON declared war on the New Polar Order, citing Polaris' long history of political blundering in wartime and particularly its betrayal of them during the Bipolar War. Without entering the war directly, as attacking another Order was still abhorrent to many Pacificans, the New Pacific Order declared support for IRON and TOP on November 26th, 2011, without attacking anyone. This declaration was made in order to make clear that the Order would support its allies who were likely to become involved, Valhalla and Olympus. Given the recent history of unprovoked attacks on the Pacific, preparations were made for war, but the Order had left the era of belligerent actions.

The Grudge War[]

As war had come to Polaris thanks to an old grudge, so did war come to Pacifica. One week after the Order's declaration of support, FAN, which had already attacked Pacifica several times since its release from the long FAN-One Vision war, and Fark, which was still bitter over the Farklands War, then almost five years gone, decided to mount a preemptive attack on Pacifica, hoping the old hate of the Order would draw a bandwagon and give them victory.

The Order's enemies had grown defiant in the post-Armageddon era, with the recent memory of Karma serving as a security blanket, and a white peace was refused by the defeated FAN and Fark, though Sparta behaved more sensibly. The two belligerents continued bleeding out strength after their coalition had begun to crumble, and Pacifica's success was assured. War dragged on until January 23rd, 2012, when the New Pacific Order declared its first victory in almost three years. The Order had suffered comparatively little and cemented its status in this new world as an honorable ally and a formidable enemy.

Redemption had come for Pacifica. The reign of Mary had seen the Order transformed from a defeated, politically isolated alliance to a diplomatically and militarily successful world leader. Pacifica had not regained its past belligerence, nor was it ruling the world with the iron fist that its early emperors had often used to such effect. It was a regional power, leading its own sphere of influence in cooperation with its allies rather than via unilateral judgment. It remained, as ever, the economic leader in the Cyberverse. The Pacifican military's morale was the highest it had been in years. It was under these conditions, with a record of success unmatched since Dilber's reign some five years prior, that the Dragon Emperor stepped down from her throne on February 4th, 2012. Her faithful Regent, Brehon, would be her successor.

The Sword of the Order[]

It was fitting that a reign most similar to that of Dilber would be followed by one most resembling the early tenure of TrotskysRevenge. Under Mary, the Order had steadily and methodically gained strength and built up its relationships, culminating in its war of redemption. Brehon, upon taking the throne, decided to leverage the political capital the Order had built up in an effort to renew Pacifican glory. In keeping with this plan, he appointed long-serving Imperial Officer bakamitai as his Regent, and soon thereafter honored bakamitai by declaring him only the third Hero of the Order (after afslaviskatania and Bilrow) to date. Rather than solely becoming an Imperator Emeritus, Mary was given the post of Imperial Counselor as well, a responsibility she retains to this day. The Era of Boldness had begun.

The departmental structure was left largely unchanged under Brehon. Instead of reforming the existing departments as his immediate predecessors had, Brehon sought to build within the Order an even more powerful military. The Pacific had long been respected and feared for its coordination, and Brehon and particularly his Imperial Officers sought to supplement that famed talent for cooperative warfare with new military standards which were intended to improve the individual fighting ability of every Pacifican- reorganized Squads, infrastructure limits, and expanded warchests. Such efforts, however, would require substantial peacetime growth in order to allow the alliance to adjust. Brehon's more martial policies meant that the effects of these reforms would not be felt until well into the reign of the next Emperor. In the short term, Pacifica's growth slowed, but since the middle of the reign of Farrin, the alliance has greatly benefited from the aftereffects of Brehon's policies.

Prior to Brehon's reign, the workings of the upper government were kept closely guarded, a precaution against the spies that would inevitably seek out an alliance as powerful as the New Pacific Order. Under the Sword of the Order, however, the barriers between the Imperial staff and the Body Republic were cut away. Imperial Officers became much more accountable to the Body Republic as well as to the Emperor, and some of their responsibilities were devolved upon department staff. In addition, Brehon initiated the practice of town hall-style meetings in which members of the Body Republic could ask questions of or air grievances before the Emperor. The Emperor and all Imperial Officers remain formally open to questions at all times under policies dating back to this period of Pacifica's history.

Capitalizing on work carried out under Mary in the field of foreign affairs, the Order began developing a definite sphere of allies in the early days of Brehon's reign. Under the dynamic leadership of Farrin Xies, then Imperial Officer of Foreign Affairs, the current treaty with The Last Remnants was signed. Relations with GATO and Non Grata also blossomed into the earliest treaties between those alliances and Pacifica, defying long histories of bad relations between alliances which had all since evolved significantly. Treaty upgrades with IRON and Oceania rounded out the fruits of the Order's new, more vigorous foreign policy. While some treaties were signed, however, others were cut- the often-threatened treaty with Invicta finally fell, and Brehon withdrew the Order from the Red Dawn economic bloc. While the bloc soon faded with the loss of its leading member, Pacifica suffered no ill effects, largely due to increased internal economic activity in support of the new military standards and greater economic ties with friendly alliances.

The Dave War[]

See also: Dave War

While Brehon was a military-minded Emperor, the first war of his reign started far from Pacifica. Dave93, a player who the Commonwealth of Sovereign Nations had convicted of spying and sentenced to ZI, was admitted to the Mushroom Kingdom. After fighting on opposing sides of several wars, there was no love between MK and CSN. With a war having started merely hours before on the fringes of MK's political sphere of influence, between Nordreich and the Libertarian Socialist Federation, there was a serious threat to MK's power base. A major distraction was needed in order to prevent MK's allies from tearing each other apart and leaving the weakened and widely disliked Mushroom Kingdom at the mercy of its enemies, and Dave was the answer. The war began on June 13th, 2012.

Before any other alliances had entered what was then a limited war between MK and CSN, Brehon rose to the occasion. Taking to the CN forums, he condemned MK's underhanded and opportunistic actions, then declared that the Pacific would rise against any who sought to attack its allies. Despite the early entry of TLR, GATO, and NG, they were largely left alone- the old fear of Pacifica's war machine likely kept potential bandwagon alliances away. It was not until June 25th that an opponent would rise: Global Order of Darkness (GOD), once again deliberately antagonizing the Order. GOD had clearly hoped that old hatred of Pacifica would bring them assistance, but they were sorely mistaken. In the end, they could only muster one ally: Viridian Entente.

The Viridian Entente fought honorably and was given honorable peace upon their defeat by the Lightbringers coalition, on July 26th. GOD continued fighting through the war and was not given peace until the surrender of its overall coalition, and thus suffered greatly at the hands of the improved Pacifican war machine. Brehon was not out for vengeance against GOD, though- despite its long history as a gadfly to Pacifica, Brehon requested at the start of the war that the Order fight hard and leave any resentment on the battlefield. It was a shrewd move- while GOD was the immediate enemy, Brehon was playing for a more distant prize than mere victory.

The Dave War had been a hollow victory for the Mushroom Kingdom. Even as the guns fell silent, the fringes of its coalition were slipping away. The world was tired of MK's disregard for alliance sovereignty, its opportunistic actions, and its behavior. The outer rim of the winning coalition rapidly realigned themselves not only with the defeated coalition of CSN and its allies, but also with Pacifica. Brehon's pre-war speech had resonated throughout the Cyberverse and captured the zeitgeist. Even those who clung to their memories of the dominance of pre-Karma Pacifica, then more than three years gone, could respect that Pacifica's behavior was logical and ordered. MK's seemed to be out of sheer spite and boredom.

The Era of Boldness[]

Pacifica had entered the war as a regional power and exited as a world power. Once again, the work of Farrin buoyed Brehon's plans, and the era of aggressive diplomacy continued. During this era, the current treaties with Anarchy Inc., NG, and GATO were signed. Relations improved with the New Sith Order and TORN, leading to the resumption of those old ties. The treaty with Oceania was also again upgraded. In an action very fitting for this "aggressive" era, good relations with Sparta led to alliance-wide war games between the two alliances, (NPO-Sparta Wargames). The Order also chose to become involved in the Kaskus-NSO War between Kaskus and NSO, all but ensuring a victory for the Sith with minimal damage taken.

Pacifican economic and military prowess were on full display during and after the Dave War. The Order had suffered relatively little against GOD and VE, and following the war, the alliance swelled to over ten million total strength. Pacifica stood stronger than ever, and despite its continued slow growth, it had proven that the new Order was capable of not only winning wars, but winning them with minimal impact on long-term growth. It was with a mighty war machine and a strong core of allies that Brehon looked to his next challenge.

The Equilibrium War[]

See also: Equilibrium War

MK had risen to prominence in the Armageddon War, having initiated the formation of Karma. It had secured a dominant position in the Cyberverse in the Bipolar War, establishing itself as the usually dominant end of a balance of global power opposite the tangled web of the Superfriends and eventual Dos Equis blocs. Its power had long relied on its presentation of itself as the sole force standing between Cyber Nations and absolute, Orwellian dominance by a mindless and eternally vengeful Pacifica. But the times had changed- Pacifica was clearly not its pre-Armageddon self, much less MK's bogeyman, and many were fed up with MK's continuous meddling in alliance affairs. Brehon, again shrewdly watching the public opinion, set about building his next victory on the back of this exasperation.

Diplomatic relations, not at the treaty level, but certainly at the regular contact level, were established with the coalition which had lost in the Dave War, as well as distant, disgruntled former allies of MK. The months following the previous war saw the Star of the Pacific rise ever higher in the esteem of the Cyberverse. MK and its immediate sphere of allies, aware of the shift of power, sought to wait out the threat and carry on as if all were normal, hoping to manipulate the situation to their advantage, but these tactics were at odds with each other. The tendency of MK and its allies to meddle brought about their downfall.

It was common practice in the alliances of the Doomhouse bloc to interfere with anti-rogue and anti-ghost operations which other alliances had undertaken. In one such instance, Umbrella filled the war slots of a rogue enemy of Anarchy Inc. and refused to attack, effectively releasing the pirate. A coalition quickly massed as Anarchy Inc. informed its closest allies- Pacifica among them- and the core of what would become the Equilibrium coalition declared war on Umbrella. The day was January 18th, 2013.

One week later, the war was in full swing, Umbrella had lost its sanctioned status, and MK's dominance was ended. The alliances which remained with Doomhouse were being ground down, and Brehon was a primary leader of the most powerful coalition seen since Karma. There was a significant problem to be addressed, however- key Pacifican allies GATO, TLR, and NG were on the other side of the war. Their defensive ties to MK and the latter's desperate attempt to bring in any force it could in order to preserve its position had stranded them on the losing end side, and Pacifica's wartime coalition was not going to forgive them easily. IRON too had been forced to sit aside as its allies made war on each other. In joining forces with its former enemies, Pacifica had created a fractious coalition built on vengeance. Polaris and Farkistan took up the mantle of leadership, presenting a more hard-line stance. Pacifica had been forced by politics to side with some allies against others, and in the process it had strained its relationships with all of them.

The eventual victory, coming on March 27th, was a hollow one. Pacifica was already resented by its allies and enemies alike, though Doomhouse had been thoroughly crushed. MK would not last much longer as an alliance, and Umbrella was a shadow of its former self. The coalition MK had built fell when the war ended, and the new situation looked much like the old, except Pacifica had taken the place of the tyrants it had defeated in the eyes of the world. Though Pacifica had emerged strong, its political clout had been much reduced, and already the storm clouds were swirling.

The Lone Star Emperor[]

The throne of Pacifica had become an uncomfortable seat by April of 2013. Brehon's boldness had revived the specter of pre-Armageddon Pacifican dominance, leading to a scramble away from the Pacifican sphere of influence. His wish to preserve Pacifican allies caught on the other side of the conflict had been seen as weakness by some in his coalition. The defeated forces directed their ire primarily toward Pacifica itself, rather than their traditional enemies. And the Order's own allies were displeased- GATO, TLR, and NG had been caught on the wrong side of the war, and despite Brehon's wishes, they had suffered for their ties to MK. Relations with IRON, caught between its two traditional allies of Pacifica and TOP during the war, reached their lowest level since the Armageddon War.

Farrin Xies, appointed Regent on the resignation of bakamitai not long before, had built much of Pacifica's foreign affairs. His appointment as the seventh Emperor of Pacifica, coming on April 23, 2013, was a hollow reward for the man who had earned the huge supply of political capital that had been spent in winning the Equilibrium War. Imperial Officers of the era openly pitied their new leader, and Farrin took the throne with little of the advantages that his predecessor had enjoyed. He could not aggressively court alliances, as he had under Brehon, but was confronted with the Herculean task of keeping the Order's remaining treaties intact. He proved more than up to the challenge. The Lone Star of Pacifica would go on to disprove at least some of the connotations of his title.

Not only were relations mended with Pacifica's allies, but Farrin found time to begin working on further relations. While IRON remained estranged, with the Revelation Accords eventually being canceled on their end in May, and Oceania collapsed in this era, Farrin was able to craft a Pacifican sphere of influence around his existing allies. This was not a patron-client relationship, as had often existed in the past, but a mutually beneficial web of alliances encompassing most of Pacifica's allies. In a bold move, he also initiated relations with ODN. The Orange Defense Network had never previously been a Pacifican ally; it had fought alongside the Pacifican only sporadically, and animosity between the two alliances dated back to NationStates. Seven years after the Citrus War, however, the Order and the Network found common ground with the signing of the Cordiality Accords, further cementing Pacifica into its region of the treaty web. Relations also improved with NSO, and by the end of Farrin's reign, both NSO and ODN had signed MDoAPs with the Order.

Farrin's Regent for much of his reign was Red. With their promotions and the resignation of Imperial Officer for Military Affairs Gandroff, almost the entire upper government was reshuffled in the course of the weeks surrounding his appointment. A series of talented officers- Lord of Darkness, Gumpper, SeasonsofLove, and Qazzian, to name the most enduring- were appointed, and the Order set about growing. With this new talent at the top levels of government and strong departments under them, Brehon's vision of an internally strong Pacific could finally be realized. The Order again passed ten million total strength early in Farrin's reign, and thanks to the continuing prowess of Economic Affairs, the total of one million units of technology was reached for the first time since before the Armageddon War.

The War of the Orders[]

See also: Disorder War

After months of brazenly searching for an opening to attack Pacifica and its allies, the coalition arrayed against the Order resorted to a tactic harking back to the first falling-out between Pacifica and Polaris. Polaris yet again claimed that Dilber, now an official of the New Sith Order, was seeking to destroy them. The claim was no more true than it had been the first time, but war was declared. Polaris and TOP attacked the New Sith Order, and Pacifica rose to meet them. Honoring the bonds of brotherhood and values between the Orders, Pacifica declared war on TOP, but not its wayward sibling Polaris. Polaris did not show the same courtesy, and for the first time, shots were fired between the New Pacific Order and the New Polar Order.

The war was not as massive as the previous, nor as costly as the opposition expected. However, it was much longer and much less clearly defined than many previous wars. The opposing coalition brought overwhelming force to bear against Pacifica and its allies, yet for over three months Pacifica stood resolute. During this time, Doombird Doomcave, an alliance made up of bored and exceptionally powerful nations, took to raiding top-tier nations in any alliances involved in the war. This led to the war effectively ending in the upper ranks early on- the top end of any alliance involved in the war found itself in peace mode. When the opposing coalition finally came to the table for peace talks, their main concern was that there had effectively been no war in the top strength tier. While Pacifica secured white peace for its allies, the TOP-led coalition sought some way of hobbling the Order's inevitable regrowth.

The Return of Order[]

This came in the form of extreme economic limitations meant to both hobble the upper tier and starve the lower.

Farrin had brought the Order through its darkest days in recent memory. Pacifica had a bright future ahead, a hopeful future. When Red stepped down as Regent late in his reign, following the war, he appointed Letum his new Regent. The Order spent its hundred days' terms boosting morale- it had outlasted massive forces, and they had inflicted much less damage than in previous wars, so the military's popular support reached new heights- and shoring up relationships. No allies abandoned the Order after this war. Farrin also continued his predecessor's policy of town hall-style meetings, and the government has become more accessible than ever in recent months. But after such success, in Foreign Affairs under two Emperors and then as Emperor in his own right, Farrin grew tired. On May 20th, 2014, three days before the end of terms, the Lone Star Emperor stepped down.

Onward, Ever Onward[]

Letum, former Imperial Officer of Economic Affairs and Internal Affairs, had once led GATO against the Order- a different GATO, against a different Pacifica. The appointment of a former enemy leader as the head of the alliance was not met with the controversy that had heralded the reign of Mary- the Order had shed its posturing. Under Emperor Letum and his Regent, Frawley, the alliance sprang to life. There are more Imperial Counselors than ever before, all active, and Pacifica continues to improve itself- in all departments, the reign of Letum looks to be one of great development for the Order.
