The Organisation of Micronational States (OMS) is a small alliance in the Black sphere. It was officially founded on 20 January 2011, although it had been unofficially established earlier in late 2010.
The alliance finalised a protectorate treaty with Sparta in March 2011 and regularly sells tech to its members.
History
The alliance quickly grew to 17 member nations from its establishment, with almost all founding members having micronations of their own on the 'MicroWiki', the micronational encyclopaedia. On the 21st January, the Provisional Government was announced by the Council of Three, which is to be in place for up to four months when elections will be held.
Some alliance members were subjected to rogue attacks and tech raids during this period, despite repeated warnings.
Milestones
- December 2010 - Alliance unofficially established by Comrade Egtavie.
- 20 January 2011 - Alliance officially established
- 21 January 2011 - Negotiations begin with Sparta over a possible Protectorate Treaty.
- 4 February 2011 - First alliance embassy established
- 17 March 2011 - Protectorate Treaty with Sparta finalised
Government
The Government of the OMS is designed to be as democratic as possible, whilst limiting the negative side-effects and 'hangovers' of democratic procedures.
The Council of Three
The Council of Three are the joint leaders of the alliance. All three members are elected by popular vote on four month terms, and discuss all matters of the running of the alliance. They are, as of January 2011, also provisional administrators of the OMS forum.
Department of Defence
The Department of Defence (DoD) is currently headed by Comrade Egtavie, as Secretary of Defence. The Department is charged with all military matters regarding the alliance, including the co-ordination of all alliance defence forces.
Department of Economics
The Department of Economics (DoE) is currently headed by Bradley, as Secretary for Economics. The Department is charged with all monetary and financial matters, including organising trade circles and tech deals.
Department of Interior
The Department of Interior (DoI) is currently headed by King Quentin I, as Secretary for Interior. The Department is charged with internal organisation of the alliance, including migration.
Department of Foreign Affairs
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DoFA) is currently headed by Philip Fish, as Secretary for Foreign Affairs. The Department is charged with all external affairs regarding the alliance, including treaties and ambassadors/envoys.
Culture
The alliance is mainly made up of former or current micronationalists, but is open to all. The alliance flag has red and green on the flag, to symbolise equality, black in the middle, to symbolise the team colour, and a silhouette of the Principality of Sealand, generally considered to be one of the world's most well-known and successful micronations.
