Midway One is the official air traffic call sign for a Midwayan Air Force aircraft whose primary mission is the transport of the President of the Union of Midway and the Emperor of the Union of Midway. It is also used to transport high ranking government officials of any nation going to/from Midway, upon their request.
The idea for designating a specific military aircraft to transport the Emperor or President arose on January 4th, 2011, when the government became concerned over the safety of commercial airliners after the National Revolutionary Front's attack on Aldebaran International Airport. Near the end of February, 2011, the government began converting a Boeing 747 for this use. The conversion process wasn't finished until March 10th, 2011 because of the heavy internal modifications involved. The design closely followed the designs of the Boeing VC-25, an aircraft used for Air Force One before the Dissolution of the United States of America. This variation is known as the Boeing VC-25M, and is still being used today.
Design and ConfigurationEdit
While the VC-25M has three decks, like a regular Boeing 747. Its 4,000 square feet (370 m²) of floor space has been reconfigured for the duties of the Emperor and President.
It's lowest deck is used for cargo space, carrying luggage and the on board food supply. The middle deck is the main passenger area, however the front end of the middle deck contains a series of rooms for VIP passengers (such as high ranking government officials of any nation). These rooms are complete with furniture, a small TV, a computer and internet access. The highest deck is where government officials (of any nation) are. The President and Emperor normally board and deplanes from the front via a airstair, while press, journalists and other passengers use the rear door.
The highest deck is referred to as the On-board Capitol. This is because the Emperor and President both have small private offices here, along with a small room (complete with a computer, internet access, a small TV, and furniture) for each of them, a lavatory and shower and a conference room. The nation can also be addressed while on board via the conference room. This function was added last-minute after the Union of Midway became involved in the Jihad War of the United States of JBR.
