The Liberal Party of Statesboro was founded to provide citizens who believed in capitalism but were more open in regards to social issues. The party established the 7 Points of Statesboro Liberalism at the 17th Liberal Convention hosted at the Southern University Civics Center on August 19, 1971.

ONE; the government should always have a balance budget.
TWO; the government should never attempt to restrict the actions of the citizens that does not directly harm another citizen.
THREE; the government should always defend the people from external attack but should never aggressively invade.
FOUR; the government should never tax income directly.
FIVE; the government should serve to provide the people with a free economy.
SIX; slavery, in all its forms, should be abhor.
SEVEN; we shall be a beacon of freedom, to serve as an example of how freedom works and what freedom can provide.
