Liaodong was founded on February 3, 2007, following the Glorious Green Revolution led by its glorious supreme leader, Premier Gao Chenyan. It took its name from the Liaodong peninsula in China, but it boundaries have since expanded beyond the geographical limits of the peninsula. The young nation was almost immediately recognized by the multi-national alliance Auxiliary Army and Liaodong has been a member of the organization ever since.
Liaodong progressed quickly and soon became a major regional economic force with the purchase of a harbor and the expansion of its Foreign Relations Department. However, progress slowed after the Great Rogue Wars, during which Liaodong and the entire Auxiliary Army were nearly destroyed.
The Great Rogue Wars had a deep effect on the country; Liaodong was in complete ruins as were its neighbors, ruling our any potential for aid or support. While the nation did eventually recover, Premier Gao Chenyan grew increasingly paranoid and suspicious of other nations and his own citizens. Liaodong closed in on itself and became isolated from the world. For a time, many called it the “Other North Korea.”
The economy of Liaodong was and still is geared towards aiding the nation and its allies during war time. Few civilian or luxury commodities are imported, and as such must be made at home. However, this has had an unintended, yet positive effect on the civilian economy. War industries helped in the establishment of several banks, schools, and clinics.
Attention and spending on technology, with the intention of improving Liaodong’s military, has greatly increased. Liaodong also completely changed it economic structure, moving from a peace based economy to one aimed at increasing performance during war. Premier Chenyan also began a nuclear program for the country, although little has come from it.
The demand for better military equipment and a bigger population has made Liaodong safer and major power in the Auxiliary Army. It has recently been involved in a series of tech wars against nations preying on members of the Auxiliary Army. With its successes in these wars, Liaodong is now pursuing a more aggressive and expansionistic policy as it moves towards a great and glorious future.
