The First Republic was to date, the longest lasting Republic of Grand Besaid, it was the Republic that succeeded the Direct Democractic government of Grand Besaid. Today it stands as a lesson for all of Grand Besaid

Senate
Elections
The Senate consists of 77 members. Each are elected by the populace of a district. The entire nation is broken into 70 districts which are equal in population to the nearest thousandth of a percent. The next six Senators are elected by the populace of each of the five states and the Capital, with each state and the Capital getting one specific Senator which they elect. The final Senator is elected by the entire nation as a whole, this senator is known as the national senator. The national Senator presides over the Senate. Elections take place every three years in which all senators are elected.
Committees
Currently there are thirteen committees, those on War, Commerce and Economics, Communications, Transportation and Energy, Foreign Affairs, Education, The Environment, Labor and Development, Rules and Ethics, Appropriations and Spending, Christian Morality, The Constitution and Laws, and lastly, Miscellaneous.
Legislative Functions
The Senate is the Primary Body of the Legislature, dealing with everything that includes Legislative Powers.
Qualifications
In order to be eligible to run for Senator a person must have attained the age of 20 years, they must have also of been a citizen of Grand Besaid for at least 16 years. In addition, they must have also be a Resident of the district they are representing for at least 2 years prior to taking office. No one may be a Senator who has been convicted of a felony within the past ten years.
Advisory Committee
Elections
The Advisory Committee consists of 29 members. It's members are elected for terms of two years, with 14 members being elected in each odd year, and 15 members being elected in each even year. Each State's populace (Oyen, Olgmar, Tesuma, Zukumi, and Adinoa) elect five members to the Advisory Committee. Also, the Capital Region elects one member to the Advisory Committee. Three members are elected by the nation as a whole.

Currently there are seven committees, those on War, Finance and Economics, Internal Affairs, Foreign Affairs, Communications and Energy and Transportation, The Environment and Industry, and lastly, Ethics and Rules and Christian Morals.
Legislative Functions
The Advisory Committee is a primary Advisory body to the Senate, Ministerial Council, and High Council. It also acts as the upper house for certain pieces of Legislation so as to assist in keeping a check on Senatorial Powers. Such Legislation in which the Advisory Committee becomes the upper house include bills on territory, committees, and bureaucracies.
Qualifications
In order to be eligible to run for the Advisory Committee, a person must have attained the age of 25 years, they must have also of been a citizen of Grand Besaid for at least 12 years. In addition, they must have also be a Resident of the district they are representing for at least 3 years prior to taking office. No one may be an Advisory Committee member who has been convicted of a felony within the past twelve years.
