The 2056 J Andres Commune Elections were held on December 17, 2052 to elect the 200 senators that serve in the J Andres Commune. The winners of the election were sworn into office on January 1, 2053. The Anchor Party won a majority of the seats. Although the Anchor Party did not win an absolute majority, the Christian Democratic Party supports the agenda of the Anchor Party and helped to elect Rupert Garfield as the Premier.
Background[]
The 2052 elections were a result of the Fifth Reformation of J Andres. The reformation was lead by the Royal Family and Prince Larry was selected to lead the transitional government. He was assassinated shortly thereafter and his sister, Princess Katherine replaced him. The Anchor Party candidate, Evan McDowell, ran on a platform of economic improvement and growth. The Communist Party candidate, Dimitri Egorov, ran on a platform of civil liberties, including allowing the western regions of J Andres to leave the Republic. Egorov also supported the elimination of the Monarchy. The Nationalist Party candidate, William Hahn, ran on a platform of national defense and a strengthening of the Monarchy to create a true empire under the direct authoritarian command of the Emperor or Empress. Evan McDowell's victory in the Presidential carried the Anchor Party to victory in the Commune.
Results[]
The final results[1] revealed that Evan McDowell was victorious in the Presidential election and that the Anchor Party had taken control of the Commune, picking up 58 seats and commanding a total of 49% of the Commune.
