The 2124 J Andres Election was held on October 5, 2124 to elect the Chancellor of Defense of J Andres.
Background[]
Former President Pierre Bourbon had been elected to seven consecutive terms as president, but was assassinated earlier in the year. His cousin Mateo Bourbon, Premier of the Commune reformed the government to eliminate the Commune and replace it with teh Crown Council. Mateo ran for President himself, vowing to renounce all of his titles in the event he won.
The Presidential election was a runaway for Bourbon, easily beating Albert Hahn, former head of the Nationalist Party in a two-way race. Hahn had retired from politics almost a decade prior, but returned for one last run.
Bourbon renounced his titles as promised and looked forward to working with the Labor party Chancellors elected in the other elections.
For the Chancellor of Defense position, Sarah Baker, a retired Captain of the military defeated James Normandy a retired General. Although both advocated for the use of military force to secure new territories, Normandy also championed using a draft to form a stronger force. Baker campaigned on stronger pay for the service members.
For the Chancellor of Foreign Affairs, James Houser, former Governor of Boston, defeated Kyle Barlow, the current head of the Nationalist party.
For the Chancellor of Industry, Douglas Annan, a descendant of Adrik Annan joined the Labor party and defeated Libertarian candidate Raza Gamal. Annan's willingness to join the Labor party was striking as the Labor party has systematically destroyed his family's business, Annan Enterprises through nationalizations. Annan stated he is not opposed to nationalizations, but wants to see the nationalized companies perform their best to benefit the entire country.
