The Iron King of The Ironborn was the leader of The Ironborn. The Iron King headed The Iron Council -- the ruling triumvirate of the alliance -- and appointed the Lord Castellan and Lord Captain, the two other members of the aforementioned. The Iron King guided the alliance, directed its policies and actions, and served as a firm leader of the proud alliance.
When an Iron King retired, they donned the title of Iron Emeritus and advised the Iron Council and the Iron King for as long as they remained within the alliance. Each Iron King also adopted a personal epithet to signify their rule.
