Overview[]
The ICV-1 Program is a joint military project to create a new Infantry Combat Vehicle to replace the M2 Bradley used by the USNA Army and the AAV-7A1s and LAV-25s used by the USNA Marine Corps. It is estimated that the ICV will be ready for production in 2010. The USNA Army plans to purchase up to 30,000 ICV-1s and move all existing M2 Bradleys into an expanded Army reserve and National Guard along with other vehicles being replaced by the modernisation program. It is able to transport a fire team of infantry and be able to support them with heavy weapons. The 50mm Chain Gun can destroy most light and moderately armored vehicles as well as provide a withering 350 rounds per minute to support infantry. It's secondary 20mm cannon is a new model that is able to fire an amazing 1000 rounds per minute. Unlike the previous Bradley the ICV-1 is amphibious without the use of external flotation devices. The USNA Marine Corps has taken interest in this feature as an amphibious version of the ICV-1 can replace all of it's current amphibious assault vehicles.
Armament[]
The ICV-1's main armament is a 50mm Chaingun that usually fires icendiary/explosive shells at a rate of 350 rounds per minute. It also has a unique SABOT round developed specifically for the cannon. While not made to slug it out with enemy tanks the ICV-1 can fight them with a cobination of it's cannon's SABOT rounds and it's two ATM-2 anti-tank missiles. It also has a rapid fire 20mm cannon that can fire explosive or armor piercing projectiles.
Defense[]
The ICV-1's armor is the same type as the XMBT-1's but is generally thinner. It has been kept to the point where light to medium anti-tank weapons won't penetrate it but it will not stop high caliber rounds in thinner armored areas. It also has the ATDS active defense system to intercept incoming projectiles.
