The Green Old Party is a soft neutral alliance in the Green Trading Sphere. It is an alliance that is aimed at real life conservatives; though there are liberals, and many different variations of conservative beliefs represented within the GOP membership. The GOP was founded in late January 2009 by Rooman33; he and the half dozen or so earliest GOP members left the CCC because of ideological differences, and decided to form the GOP. Friends from the Greenland Republic also joined to help form the alliance.

Brief History

The GOP was founded on January 30, 2009. In the next three days, the founding members set up the government, charter, DoN, and DoS. Also in this time period the first triumvirate was temporarily appointed by Rooman33. On February 1, 2009 the official Declaration of Existence was made on the OWF. On 11 March 2009 the GOP had it's first elections and re-elected the previously appointed triumvirate.

In July 2009, along with other prominent neutral alliances, all members of the Green Old Party were sent a recruitment message from the New Sith Order. The GOP's response was one of outrage, prompting the then Triumvirs of Military Affairs and Foreign Affairs, Rooman33 and Rekh127 respectively, to resolve to find a resolution to the controversy. After long talks on IRC, the NSO apologized to GOP members on the GOP forums, publicly on the CyberNations forums and the GOP announced a Statement of Reconciliation and Unofficial Friendship between the two alliances.

In September 2013 Mushqaeda declared war on The Democratic Order, claiming that their neutrality fermented inactivity. In response the GOP invoked its "Don't Tread On Me Doctrine", which states that GOP reserves the right to combat any unjustified attacks on neutrality, and declared war on Mushqaeda.

Election History

Interim Triumvirate

When the GOP was first formed, an interim Triumvirate was appointed by the GOP's founder (Rooman33) for a period of one month, after which the first elections would take place. The appointees were:

First Triumvirate Elections

The GOP's first elections took place one month after the interim Triumvirate were appointed on, the election process began on 1 March 2009 - all three Triumvirate positions were up for election. As per GOP law, elections took place over a period of 9 days; for the first 3 days nominations were made for each office, with those receiving 3 seconds and those who accepted their nomination becoming official candidates; for the next 3 days the candidates put forward their platforms for their respective offices; during the final 3 days voting took place. The winners were:

Second Triumvir of Foreign Affairs Election

Following the resignation of Rekh127 on 23 August 2009, the GOP's second Triumvir of Foreign Affairs election process took place. The winner was Sun WuKong.

Third Triumvir of Foreign Affairs Election

Following SunWuKong's resignation as ToFA and from the GOP on 23 September 2009, the GOP's third Triumvir of Foreign Affairs election process took place. JDMCBOGGS, Roomand33 and willij were all nominated and all became candidates for the ballot paper. During the voting process JDMCBOGGS and Rooman33 withdrew from the race - therefore willij was the winner.

Rooman33 announced his retirement as Triumvir of Military Affairs on 10 February 2010, following this the election process began. Earl of Emyn Arnen was the winner.

Fourth Triumvir of Foreign Affairs Election

willj stepped down as Triumvir of Foreign Affairs on 31 May 2010, following this the election process began. Rooman33 was the winner.

Second Triumvir of Internal Affairs Election

Following the resignation of Samwise as Triumvir of Internal Affairs on 5 July 2010, the election process for the new ToIA began. This election saw the GOP's first ever run off vote after Al Gore and Prince Roger drew in a very close race. Rekh127 was eliminated and a run off vote between the remaining candidates took place. This election was also significant because it saw the first use of the options Abstain and None of the Above - this followed discussions that took place following the previous election (for ToFA). The ultimate winner of this election was Prince Roger
