The Disparu Committee was a committee created by the separatists after the Quebec Referendum of 2006. It was named after the French word for "disappeared" (disparu), since its goal was to find out what's missing on the "Yes" side of the referendum. Its goal at first was to gain the support of everyone in Quebec to the "Yes" side, and later to establish the Government of Disparu and the structure of the new nation. Most people consider Caitlin Darach as the Committee's leader and chairwoman. The members of the Committee usually have political clouts in Disparuean politics.

History

The Disparu Committee was created by separatists on the "Yes" side on 21 November 2006, when their side lost the referendum by a small margin. The goal was to gain the support and sympathy of Quebec for the Yes side, and it was composed of both English and French Canadians, seperatists and federalists alike. At first, the Committee was viewed as a failed attempt to unite all people of Quebec, due to its members opposing each other.

The Committee's first goal was to gain the support of Quebec, both English and French Canadians, in order to win the next referendum that was going to be held three years later. Since the Committee's members came from all walks of life, they easily gained the support of most Quebeckers. Their goal was also helped by the onset of the Canadian Crisis, since there were no efforts to stop the Committee's work during that time. The Committee's work demonstrated the example that opposing sides can work together on an issue for the benefit of all.

When the Committee finally won the 2009 Referendum, they began to work on the structure of the new nation. The Committee was temporarily the Government of the new nation while everything was still being constructed. On 18 February 2009, the Committee split into three sides, Democratic, Empire and Green, one week before the first elections, in order to form political parties. Pikachurin formed the Democratic Party of Disparu, Cynthia Celeste formed the Empire Party of Disparu, and Erika Gardenia formed the Green Party of Disparu.

Pokémonization

The Pokémonization is the informal name given to an extremely controversial initiative done by the Disparu Committee shortly after the creation of Committee-controlled Disparu. The Pokémonization is officially referred to as "Initiative 004" in the Disparu Committee's documents. The Pokémonization, as defined by Disparu Committee documents released by the Disparuean Government, was a plan by the Disparu Committee to "make the new nation move forward by releasing it from the bonds of the past", which could be interpreted as an attempt by the Committee to disassociate Disparu from its past. The Pokémonization earned its name due to the fact that many of the Initiative's components seemed to have an element of Pokémon in them. The Pokémonization itself has received mixed views about it, though most views tend to lean on the negative side.

Some of the effects of the Pokémonization were the renaming of the cities of Quebec and Montreal to Hearthome and Canalave, respectively (Hearthome and Canalave were also cities from the Pokémon Diamond and Pearl games). Most of the Pokémonization's effects were eventually reversed, such as the renaming of Snowpoint to Ivujivik in 2010. However, traces of the Pokémonization can still be found embedded within Disparu.

It is currently unknown as to why did the initiative involve several elements taken from Pokémon. Members of the Disparu Committee have refused to release the reasoning behind this, though the current facts released to the public seems to tell that the Pokémon elements are inside jokes within the Committee.

Order of the Committee

Today, members of the Disparu Committee can use the suffix "DC" when signing official documents. The original founders have set up a prestigious award called the "Order of the Committee", which is awarded to outstanding citizens of Disparu.
