For the official Wikipedia policy on Citation see Wikipedia:Citing sources

Nutshell This page in a nutshell: Add sources to document important events.

Shortcut:
CN:CITE

In terms of the Cyber Nations Wiki providing a citation or more broadly speaking, a reference, is the only way of officially documenting things such as; events, treaties, Declarations of War, Alliances disbanding, etc. on this Wiki.

Below are some examples of events that should have a citation/reference to verify their authenticity.

  • Alliances disbanding
  • Alliances merging
  • Alliance formation
  • Treaties between alliances
  • Treaty announcements
  • Treaty cancellations
  • Declarations of War
  • Declarations of Peace
  • Bloc formations
  • Blocs disbanding
  • Other major events as deemed necessary by the community

Methods of adding Citations[]

Most simple method of adding non-wiki links[]

i.e. Internet pages (CN forums, Alliance forums etc.)

you simply type in [URL words after the first space are displayed on the wiki]

  • Example below
[http://forums.cybernations.net/index.php?showtopic=50155 NOIR]

would display on the wiki as
NOIR

Linking to pages on other wikia sites[]

Syntax:

[[w:c: WIKIA TITLE HERE : Wikia article name that you are linking to | these words are displayed on the cn wiki page]]

example:

[[w:c:warhammer40k:Primarch|Primarch]]

Product: Primarch

Linking to Wikipedia[]

Syntax:

{{Wikipedia| Wikipedia article name that you are linking to | these words are displayed on the cn wiki page}}

example:

{{Wikipedia|Wikipedia:Citing sources|Wikipedia's policy on Citing sources}}

Product: Wikipedia's policy on Citing sources

Methods of adding References[]

For references which is another way of providing a reference for documentation you do the following

you simply do the following

<ref> url you are referencing goes here </ref>

and be sure to include <references/> at the very bottom of the wiki page and ALL reference's URLs made throughout the wiki article will be displayed there. If there are a plethora of references throughout a wiki article it is acceptable to create a standalone section at the very bottom of a wiki article where all references will be located.

It will look like this(below) when done correctly.

For this, he is being recognized in two ways.[1] Well, three if you count Brennan's huggles.
