Introduction[]
The Conservative Party is a centre-right political party in New Prussia that adheres to the philosophies of conservatism and Alliance scepticism. It is the largest political party in Prussia, and is currently the largest single party in the Chamber of Ambassadors with 200 seats. It governs in coalition with the Royal Conservatives and the Free Democratic Party, with party leader Anglea Rowston as Chancellor.
The Conservative Party was created in 1952 after the dissolution of the Unionist Party which dated back to 1642; it has always been colloquially called the 'Tory Party' or 'Tories'. The party is one of two dominant parties, along with the Labour party. It later changed it's name to the 'Prussian Conservative Party' although that name is rarely used and it is generally referred to as simply 'The Conservative Party'.
Economic Policy[]
The party's reputation for economic stewardship was dealt a blow by Grey Friday in 1987, in which billions of Royals were spent in an effort to keep the Prussian Royal within the International Rate Mechanism system at an overvalued rate. Combined with the recession in of the late 1980's 'Grey Friday' allowed Mark Thompson of the Labour Party to promise greater economic competence.
