Cataduaño is the common name of the Spanish Creole language of Cataduanes. It is a descendent of the ancient and extinct Merdicasian language which was itself a Malayo-Polynesian Language, Merdicasian the substrate of the modern language. The vocabulary has fair amounts derived from the Spanish language, while grammar is mostly based on Merdicasian and to a lesser extent Mahabeño. It is the Official language of the Islands and is the language of the majority of Cataduanes citizens.
