The zen is the official currency of Bowasia symbolized by a Z. It is divided into 100 Sques which is symbolized by a q. Contrary to popular belief, the name "zen" has nothing to do with Chinese Buddhism or anything of that nature. The name "Zen" derives from the word "Yen" which is the official currency of Japan. The zen was created after the collapse of the United States in 2006.

History[]

Introduction[]

After the United States collapsed in 2006, Napa City was in need of a currency. For awhile, Napa City used the United States Dollar but due to a shortage of psychical cash money, Napa was forced to use an alternate currency. Napa formed its own currency called the "Zen" and its subunit the "Sque" and pegged it to the United States dollar until 2008 when it became a fiat currency. After the economic recession that formed Bowasia, the zen's value was declining. This problem was fixed when the zen was officially pegged to gold after the Gold Standard Act of 2009 was passed and enacted in 2010.
