Berezniki (Finn. Peresniki, Russ. Березники) is a city within Uralica. Like Solikamsk, it is an important hub in both marble and wheat trades because of its location. One could argue that the two cities provide a "dual-core" approach to the provision of marble and wheat to trade partners. Since it is so close to Solikamsk, many people refer to the urban area as "Berezniki-Solikamsk," although there is a definitive, albeit small, gap in the urban areas.
It is also a centre of the hi-tech industry in Uralica, ranking fourth behind Nizhny Tagil, Perm', and Yekaterinburg in terms of hi-tech consumer goods production.
It is one of three major stops along highway UH-12, along with Solikamsk and Kungur.
Culture[]
Much like Solikamsk, the population is predominantly Russian, however, since it is closer to the traditional homeland of the Udmurts, there is also a significant population of these as well. There were also a decent number of Ob Ugrics, mostly Khanty-speaking, although most of these have since moved to Yugra county.
Berezniki is considerably larger than Solikamsk, so there are also more large buildings. Most notable among these is the elegantly-crafted Pushkaryov Commerce Building, which is an important stock-trading facility, given the absence of a proper stock market within Uralica. It is run by Pushkaryov Finance, a rival company of the Ykköspankki, whose headquarters building is in Kirov.
It is known in Uralica for having the largest proportion of Jews of any Uralican city, and is also the location of Uralica's largest Jewish seminary. The band members of Enemy's Enemy all briefly atttended this.
