The Battle of Kinrea was the second battle in the Irish Civil War that took place in the small isolated town of Kinrea in County Donegal. Eventually the battle ended with a victory for the United Republic of Ireland.
Kinrea[]
Kinrea is a small isolated town with a population of 107. It is a seaside town although it attracts very little tourists and is considered to be one of the most isolated towns in Ireland. Kinrea has a small river running through the town which acts as a source of clean water for the town itself.
Background[]
At 07:00 on the 8th January, over 200 NUA fighters stormed the small sea-side town of Kinrea in Donegal. The residents of Kinrea were ordered out of the small town as the NUA fighters took up position around the town. As soon as the news broke, President Padraic Kelly sent 900 Rontás led by Capt. Earl Baker up to Kinrea to eliminate the threat.

To the suprise of the NUA, the elite Ronta approached the town in 8 chinooks and landed just 200 meters outside the town. As they entered the town, the NUA fighters immediately pulled back and. The NUA began setting fire to the buildings as the Ronta pushed them back to the outskirts of the town where several hundred Irish Army soldiers where waiting for them. The United Republic of Ireland had won the battle.
