The Hymn of the Soviet Union of Socialist Republics (commonly known as the Hymn of the SUSR) is the anthem of the Soviet Union of Socialist Republics. The music was composed by Alexander Vasilyevich Alexandrov for the National Anthem of the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union of Socialist Republics then asked a Chinese artist, Jing Boming, to write a set of lyrics for use by the Soviet Union of Socialist Republics. The lyrics were completed on June 29, 2011, and the anthem was adopted on the same day. It was first performed and broadcast on the television and radio of all SUSR nations on the same day.

History[]

The music for the Hymn of the SUSR was originally created by Alexander Vasilyevich Alexandrov in 1938, for use with the National Anthem of the Soviet Union. The music was then proposed for use with the anthem of the SUSR, and this proposal was accepted by all leaders of SUSR nations. The Chinese government then asked Jing Boming, a Chinese composer who wrote propaganda songs, to write alternate lyrics for use by the Soviet Union of Socialist Republics. Jing Boming accepted.

On June 29, 2011, the lyrics were completed. It was adopted as the anthem of the SUSR almost immediatly, and the Korean People's Army Choir performed the song for the first time. This performance was broadcast in all SUSR nations, using both radio and television.

English Lyrics[]

Hymn of the Soviet Union of Socialist Republics
Unbreakable union of freeborn republics,
joined together by our great alliance!
Long live our great alliance of nations,
the Soviet Union of Socialist Republics!

Chorus
Long live our great motherlands, built by the people's mighty hands.
Long live our banner, the flag of the free!
Our friendship was tested by fire, long may our crimson flag inspire.
Shining in glory for all men to see.

When the world was at war, we found each other.
And helped each other to our freedom!
We fought to the end and won our freedom.
We won our great nations back.

Chorus

In victory of the communist ideal
We see our great future
To the Red Banner of our great alliance
We shall always be true.

Chorus
